Following on from the fab Ford S-MAX and Galaxy testing in Christmas '09-10 and a variety of other projects in 2010, Ford have asked us to now find a total of 15 Mumsnetters and their families from across the UK to take part in a three week test drive. This time we have three newly launched cars on offer - you can choose from...

C-MAX - a 5 seater, featuring

~ Five flexible seats
~ Power operated tailgate
~ Panoramic roof and interior
~ Active Park Assist

Grand C-MAX - a 7 seater, featuring

~ Seven flexible seats
~ Power operated tailgate
~ Sliding doors
~ Active Park Assist

or the Focus, featuring

~ Active City Stop
~ Active Park Assist
~ Lane Keeping Aid
~ Traffic Sign Recognition

Ford kindly let JustineMumsnet and CarrieMumsnet put the Grand C-MAX's through their paces recently -

The team at Ford say "We're delighted to be working with Mumsnet again in 2011. We are looking forward to finding out what Mumsnetters think of the all new Ford C-MAX, Grand C-MAX and the Focus"

Conditions - please read
You can use the car for anything (legal) - but you would need to pay for any fuel you use, as well as any parking permits or parking/traffic fines.

Insurance will be arranged as long as you:-

~ are aged 25 or over
~ have had a full driving licence for three years or more and
~ have no convictions for dangerous driving.

What will test drivers need to do?
If selected, you would need to be able to offer feedback about the car on Talk at least twice a week for the duration of the three week test plus a final round up of your thoughts.

We will also be asking you to use the video camera provided to film yourself reviewing the car with your family plus we'll need a photo of you with the car and some details about you and your family. All footage, photos and information may be shown on Mumsnet and potentially used by Ford elsewhere.

Timetable
The test drives are scheduled to take place as follows - each one will last 3 weeks.

Please only apply for a car when you are around and able to test the car as well as add your feedback.

C-MAX w/c 25 July to c14 Aug x 5 testers
Grand C-MAX w/c 15 Aug to c4 Sept x 5 testers
Focus w/c 12 Sept to c2 Oct x 5 testers

If selected your name and contact details would be passed to the team at Ford who would make arrangements to deliver the car on a convenient day and time to suit you.

If you're interested in taking part please sign up by clicking here.

If you are selected, we'll be in touch.

If you're selected for the test drive and add feedback as required on Mumsnet, you will receive £100 of John Lewis vouchers.

Thanks and good luck

If selected, would we be able to take the car out of the country?? Just we have a holiday booked during those dates to Europe so I just wondered if I could still apply

Ooh, we're just about to replace our car so could do with a 3 week test drive, but would we be able to get an automatic?

I tried to sign up for this one earlier, not sure if it went through or not. Pressed submit but I just got a blank screen. Can you let me know please mnhq?

Is there any flexibility on date of return? Am going away on holiday on 6th August but would be interested in trying the CMax so would it be possible for it to get picked up on the 5th?

Also wonder what the excess on the insurance would be (not that I would intend to crash at all of course)

Can I do it again? is mumsnet hungry for another installment of me dancing while driving?

Report
AnnMumsnet · 07/07/2011 18:16

Hi Lawrie - yes there would be flexibility on this. Not sure about excess...

There are a couple of other questions above which I will ask and get back to you all tomorrow about.

mumatron - don't think yours did, sorry

Also, silly question, what's the privacy situation? Having put a small amount of effort into maintaining a MN persona which does not allow my workmates to assess the depth of my feelings for Gethin Jones or details of my EWM, how does that work when a video of the entire family goes up on the website? Do people just namechange before entering the survey?
I guess it's our own choice about the risk/reward balance isn't it?

why thankyou Ann

i'd love to do another installment. these days i could fill it with zimmers for work. Grin

DONE(smile)

AnnMumsnet · 07/07/2011 18:46

Dilysprice - it's not a silly question. Obviously this is a review where you will be filmed. You are welcome to namechange for the feedback thread and the video will almost certainly feature your RL first name eg "Sally from Southampton reviews the Focus...." you should think about this aspect before applying.

Have entered anyway, but have explained about the holiday in the commenets section.
If it is a problem then you'll just have to let me test drive my second choice Grin

I give up! I've tried 3 times to enter and it just takes me back to the start again :(

Report
allthefires · 07/07/2011 20:01

Can you check it has gone through? Not sure it has.

Shame there isn't an option to enter to test any as due to our family expansion our choices are currently new second car or go down the 7 seater route so would be interested in any of the cars!
