Recipe of the week

smithy's roasted beetroot: low-fat, dairy-free, gluten-free, nut-free and generally nutritious and virtuous. This one-dish wonder is delicious and uses up some seasonal beets. What's not to like?

This Thursday, Feb 11th, Mumsnet will be hosting a Big Night In, in aid of PiggyBankKids, the charity founded by Sarah Brown. Sarah will be joining us for a glass of wine, a sausage roll or two and a webchat. If you want to hang out / post a question / share a virtual sausage roll in the normal way, that's fine. But if you feel the urge to get a bit more involved there's a couple of things you can do:
You can host your own Big Night In - the idea being that you (and your staying-in friends) donate whatever you would have spent going out to PiggyBankKids.

And/or you can check out the PiggyBankKids website and have a browse in their shop. Everyone who donates or buys something between now and Feb 21st (and they have mints starting at £2 so you don't need to be flash with cash) will be entered into a prize draw to win either this fab George Clooney-signed piggybank (and we'll obviously do our best to make sure he delivers it personally smile) or an equally fab pig signed by Ruth Jones (Nessa from Gavin and Stacey).

To enter tick the box when you check out to confirm that you are a Mumsnet member and you agree to the terms and conditions.

Mumsnet will be donating all CAT subscriptions given in Feb and March to this fab charity which aims to give UK children the best possible chance of living a healthy and happy life.

As well as being President of PiggyBankKids, which she founded in 2002, Sarah is also patron of a number of charities addressing healthcare and women's issues including Wellbeing of Women, Women's Aid, and Maggie's Cancer Caring Centres. She is also the Global Patron of the White Ribbon Alliance for Safe Motherhood, and Co-chair of the High Level Leadership Group on Maternal Mortality convened by the Global Leaders Network. Sarah is married to Gordon Brown and has two sons.

As usual, for those who can't make it on the night, we'll be gathering some advance questions which Sarah has promised to have a look at, so if you're not around on Feb 11th (or if you're worried you might get carried away on your Big Night In and want to get your sensible question in now) you can post it on this thread.

my piggies have arrived, they're really nice and not too small. dd1 predictably furious that they are intended for all her wee pals who have birthdays coming up. highly recommended as perfect for party gifts.

If you want your link to display text other than the web address itself, leave a space after the address then add the text before the ]]. So "Look at [[www.mumsnet.com this page]]", would display "Look at this page."
