Questions for Hugh Jackman and Taron Egerton

SandyMumsnet · 15/03/2016 13:23

Film buffs will be delighted to hear that Hugh Jackman and Taron Egerton (oh yes) are going to be taking your questions about their lives and their roles in the film Eddie the Eagle that hits the UK screens on Easter Monday March 28.

Post up your questions for Hugh and Taron before 5pm on Thursday 17th March and we’ll be putting the questions to them later in the week. The interview will be filmed so you can watch Hugh and Taron answering your questions on Mumsnet YouTube channel next week.

EDDIE THE EAGLE is a feel-good story about Michael “Eddie” Edwards (Taron Egerton), an unlikely but courageous British ski-jumper who never stopped believing in himself – even as an entire nation was counting him out. With the help of a rebellious and charismatic coach (played by Hugh Jackman), Eddie takes on the establishment and wins the hearts of sports fans around the world by making an improbable and historic showing at the 1988 Calgary Winter Olympics.

HUGH JACKMAN is an Academy Award-nominated, Golden Globe and Tony Award-winning performer. From his adamantium claw-wielding Wolverine in the blockbuster X-Men franchise, to his award winning performance as Jean Valien in Tom Hooper’s Les Misérables. Jackman has proven to be one of the most versatile actors of our time.

TARON EGERTON starred as the lead role of Gary 'Eggsy' Unwin Kingsman: The Secret Service, opposite Colin Firth, Michael Caine and Samuel L Jackson.

And last year he played Edward ‘Mad Teddy’ Smith opposite Tom Hardy in the biopic about the Kray twins. Egerton was nominated for the Rising Star Award at the BFI London Film Festival, has just been named one of the “30 under 30” list in Forbes magazine and has been nominated for this year’s BAFTA EE Rising Star Award.

Big fan of both of 'em - Taron is loooovely and slightly more age appropriate for me than Hugh Grin

For Hugh: If you could have played any other superhero than Wolverine, who would it have been?

For Taron: Is Tom Hardy as lovely in real life as he seems What was the film or who was the actor that inspired you to start acting?

Oh deary deary me. You're going to have to search quite hard to get enough repeatable questions MNHQ.

I had a polite question, but unfortunately Jeremy has asked it already, is Hugh going to be in any more musicals any time soon?

My personal favourite performance of his is the big musical number from the 2009 Oscars - can't tell you how many times I've watched that.

Hi Hugh and Taron - welcome to MN. For both of you: What attracted you to the roles you play in Eddie the Eagle, which lets face it is a rather strange little story? And did you meet the real life people you're playing and what did you think of them?

Hey Hugh. Wolverine was one of those characters that I can't imagine anyone else but you playing and that's what I love about prominent roles like that. Do you ever think you'll wake up one morning just like Tom Hanks' character in big but only you would be Wolverine? That would be scary

Hellooooooo Hugh Wink

If you could play any character or role, who would you choose?

Hello Hugh and Taron, I don't know Taron's work but that trailer looks excellent so will definitely see it. My question is for both of you, are there any film parts you have turned down that you really regret now?

And I can't leave without saying that Hugh is just everything a man should be fab and appears to be the nicest man in showbiz. How do you stay so lovely when you must meet arseholes everyday??

Hello Hugh and Taron
I saw a preview of this recently and I really enjoyed it. I'd like to take my DS to see it as I think it is an inspirational story and part from the odd bit ( Bo Derek!) the film is pretty family friendly.

My question to you both is - have either of you attempted a ski jump in real life, and if so how high can you go?

Thanks.

Welcome to Mumsnet!!

Hugh how did you feel about taking on the character of Jean Val Jean (have no idea how to spell that). Did you find it intimidating? Also, my favourite early film of yours was Kate and Leopold.

Taron Loved you in Kingsman! Are you aware of the online following the film has, does this make you feel intimidated reprising the role for Kingsman two?

Welcome Hugh & Taron - if there was a zombie apocalypse, what book/s would you find room for in your rucksack?

Hi Hugh & Taron,

I wondered if either of you had heard of Eddie the Eagle prior to being offered your roles in the film? If not, what did you make of his story, pursuing his ambition despite the challenges he faced. Also, have either of you pursued an ambition against the odds?

Hugh & Taron - welcome to MN

HUGH - Wolverine The Musical: have you pitched this yet? If not, why not?

TARON - Oxfords or brogues?

Seriously -

Taron, was learning to ski jump like Eddie really difficult? Did you try to mimic his technique?

Hugh - had you heard of Eddie before the movie was pitched to you?

Report
ALemonyPea · 15/03/2016 21:10

Taron, loved you in Kingsman. It's one of my favourite films from last year. Did you find the training for Eddie different to that of Kingsman.

Hugh, just so I can plan ahead, do you remove any clothing in Eddie?
