sceptic arthritis in 7mth old

Ds recently developed a sceptic arthritis in his knee, which luckily, following a short spell in hospital and a course of antibiotics, he made a full recovery from.
I had never heard of it before this, and would be interested to know if anyone elses children have had it. Is it quite common?

I had sceptic arthritis in my knee as a by-product (if that's the right word) of meningococcal meningitis, when I was 25. I have suffered no long term effects from it, which I hope is reassuring to you, but as to how common it is, I haven't a clue. I would be quite interested as well.

Hi Art, i hav jst read yr msg & wanted to let u no that my boy had it in his hip & knee in march.(is 20 mnths old) he has had 2 ops so far & is still under going treatment. u hav been very lucky as N developed oesteomilitis in his knee and has bone damage in his femur. He will get better in time but the consultant said that this condition is extremely rare in kids.gld that D is better.
