Unless you were off-grid yesterday, you probably know that Alex Salmond and Alistair Darling joined us live for their final debate before the Scottish Referendum.

Here's a short video in which they answer some of the questions that came up on the thread - do have a look, and tell us what you think. And for their answers to the critical Biscuit Question, !

So Salmond went posh and Darling went pleb on the biscuits... hmmm!

Itsfab · 12/09/2014 11:30

Don't want to watch. Can someone tell me please what the biscuit choices were thoughConfused why it matters to me.

TIA

It is about a proper future of Scotland people being independent. Salmond is for sovereignty of the people not parliament. Who would ask a dumb question about a biscuit. Come on be serious. Grin

LaChatte · 13/09/2014 17:10

Did Salmond say today Scotland is climbing against a climbing market?

Charlenexxx · 14/09/2014 20:04

Just vote no lol I'm English and have lived in Scotland for 6 years I can't believe how a yes vote would be wise

BigfootFiles · 14/09/2014 21:07

Can we drop the biscuit thing, please? It's just embarrassing.

spiacentini · 15/09/2014 16:11

Alex Salmond is like a toddler- we have been told by the Bank of England that we cannot have the pound backed by the Bank of England. He just doesn't understand No. He rudely interrupted Alistair Darling in the 2nd TV debate--if we use a Scottish pound then if it is linked to the UK pound then the UK government will have to agree our budget like the Germans currently do for weaker Euro members. Vote No and show him we understand where our future prosperity and freedom lie- that is within the UK with the current pound and maximised devolved powers.

Also think about our trade routes- the only direct ferry to the continent could not sustain a 7 day service and was reduced to a 3 day week freight only service. This was despite subsidy by £1.8m by the Scottish Government. The Scottish Government have also purchased Prestwick airport for £1 and that loses £2m per annum- if we have such good trade potential outwith England how come no ferry company can sustain a daily link and how come no commercial operation wanted to buy Prestwick? Do we want our goods to lie a day before being shipped or would we be prepared to pay whatever taxes/import duties England might impose to transport through their country?
Will our customers be prepared to suffer delays or additional costs?

Scotlandisfree · 15/09/2014 18:14

The Scottish independence debate is not about Alex Salmond, he was given the mandate to ask for a referendum by the Scottish people. I do hope everyone has enjoyed the debate and the media attention. After it's all over and we have voted No then we will go back to how it has been for 300 years. A minority being ignored in our own nation. Once our resources have been depleted do you think Westminster will still want a union? The whole country voted against the Tories and still got a Tory government. That isn't democracy. We can never influence Westminster and they have shown time and again our opinion counts for naught. Let's send a clear message that we will no longer be ignored.

The Tory government called Nelson Mandela a terrorist leader of a terrorist organisation and supported an apartheid regime. They closed mines, car plants and funded the devastation of the north of England and Wales using Scottish oil revenues. They give banks subsidies to the tune of 38 billion to prop up London. How would all those other industries have faired with subsidies of that size.

Our legal system is separate, our NHS is already separate and us funded by the Scottish Government, the Tories plan to hand NHs England to the American in what Cameron calls an opportunity of a lifetime.

Let's end all the chit chat and show Westminster we are no longer willing to be pulled into illegal wars or be threatened by trident on our soil. Vote Yes and create a new destiny for Scotland

Hello! I'm looking for mums friends to go to the Hyde park and share experience etc. anyone interested?

TunipTheUnconquerable · 19/09/2014 10:05

I love the biscuit question personally, because it's always amusing to see politicians desperately trying to squeeze a tiny drop of political capital out of a totally banal and irrelevant question - it's symbolic of how the media forces them to communicate.
