I think I may have had my ultimate pointlessness made clear to me today.

DD 'remembered' that she had 2 b'day presents to buy for friends this week. We were at one of those tarted-up Garden centres that sells everything wreathed in Kath Kidston or in pictures of otters and charges a small fortune for the teeniest weeniest bar of chocolate with a picture of a robin on it. We were only there to buy a sack of dog food because it was on special offer. DD spent nearly an hour trying to find presents that would be acceptable. Every time I attempted to make a suggestion or ask if perhaps she could get a move on I was manoeuvred on to a chair and made to 'stay there' and given a pitying glance and a shake of the head. Just a few years ago anything would do if it had a picture of a cat on it, and my opinion was valid...but not now apparently.

I did get to pay though. So I still have a limited use.
