To think that middle aged women are really a bit pointless?

What is the point of them?

Really?

There is an obvious answer to this question. They have been younger so know what it's like to be your age. You have never been middle aged so you have no conception of what they are.

aldiwhore · 21/10/2011 12:08

Now what age exactly are we talking because obviously that makes a huge difference?

I know a few pointless people, but so far they are of all ages, and either gender.

CogitoErgoSometimes · 21/10/2011 12:08

YABU. Without us middle-aged women a) how would anyone know what was going on? and b) what would anyone complain about on MN?

ChaosTrulyReigns · 21/10/2011 12:08

shoot 'em all

OldGreyWassailTest · 21/10/2011 12:08

Middle aged women turn into OldGrey's like me - then, because the kids and responsibilities are over and done with, we have a ball I tell ya !!

I'm nearly middle aged.

And in the absence of a bun, have a Biscuit

Grin

TheVermiciousKnid · 21/10/2011 12:09

I have to admit I am rather pointless. I am rounded rather than pointy. Not that I am middle aged of course.

JeremyVile · 21/10/2011 12:10

Pointless, yes. And a drain on resources.

topsyturner · 21/10/2011 12:11

How old is middle aged these days ? < asks before she nods in agreement or objects strenuously >

Jins · 21/10/2011 12:11

I'm middle aged and I'm getting more and more convinced that I'm pointless with every day that passes.

We should rise up in defiance of ... whatever it is

Hullygully · 21/10/2011 12:12

Shall we say 40+?

They are all right for doing chores and such, but apart from that, I can't see what they have to offer.

OP posts:
EssexGurl · 21/10/2011 12:12

What is middle aged? I am worried this is me but without a reference point can't comment. So, YABU not to ask a proper question.

..and by resources I mostly mean Tupperware.

The Lakeland restockers just can't keep up Sad

TheVermiciousKnid · 21/10/2011 12:12

40? No, I think we should add another decade or so.

Hassled · 21/10/2011 12:13

Without middle aged women there would be no hot flushes. And that would clearly be calamitous for the environment - it's a well known fact that hot flushes play a similar role to the Gulf Stream. Our ability to radiate heat is the only thing between you and the next Ice Age.

CogitoErgoSometimes · 21/10/2011 12:13

I think you lack imagination Hullygully. Us middle-age women make fabulous draft excluders if positioned correctly.

But we can't spell draught correctly.

If you were 48 and middle aged you'd have to live to be 96.

SoupDragon · 21/10/2011 12:13

Certainly some women are pointless. I can see several here. I don't think age has anything to do with it.
