Back Problems & Sleeping

Hi all,

I was wondering anyone has any advice For dealing with back problems & trying to sleep! I'm just over 5 months with non Id twins and have a lot of back problems (ex pro dancer, 2 herniated discs, stenosis, slight scoliosis etc etc!) I'm under physio led care at the hospital & they're being really great but I'm having a lot of problems sleeping as I can't find a comfortable position where my back doesn't hurt. I have a big pillow but wondered if anyone can recommend anything or has anyone used a memory foam mattress?

Thanks
H

Hi holly, congrats.

What I remember is using virtually every spare pillow in the house (I think I had seven at one point) to create a 'me' shaped hole. I also evicted DP, so that I could snore and get up for the loo in the middle of the night without feeling guilty, and in the last couple of months I usually slept with a pillow between my knees.

Good luck

I found a long pregnancy pillow between the knees good and under the bump for support when laying on my side. A physio gave me a support bandage (like giant tubigrip) which helped take some of the weight off during the day. Swimming was good too - doesn't help at night obviously but it was nice to not have the weight for a while and it maybe helped with muscles (not that much actual swimming near the end though!)

I too had a long pregnancy pillow, from mothercare, that helped loads.
