Hiya,
I had an early scan today as I had a MC in September. I'm 6+1 weeks by LMP 5+4 by conception & now scan.

Anyway the scan showed 2 sacs Grin
However one was bigger than the other & a lot brighter. Obviously there's no heartbeats yet, but iv been told I could either MC twin 2 or it could be perfectly healthy just smaller & not as developed right now.

Just wondered if anyone else had this and went onto have twins?

Also does anyone have any experience of MC 1?

Iv been told to come back in 2 weeks when they can tell me more, so can't do much until then except hope & chat on MN Smile

I had my first scan at around 6 weeks too, after ivf. I had one sac smaller than the other, no heartbeats etc, and my twins are now 4 and both trying to sit on my knee while they watch cbeebies Grin

Good luck, it's a long wait till your next scan I know, I still remember the constant worrying.

Hi - I had one sack smaller and one bigger - and I am now 15 + 4 and both babies are developing nicely. Actually they are both pretty equal in size and both quite big for twins, so not sure whether smaller sack really matters that much.

Also you can have another scan privately if you are worried and you don't have to wait two weeks...it make just make you more relaxed. Good luck

Thank you viio and congratulations Grin
Today's scan was private they recommend I wait 10-14 days so it will be clear what's happening and by that point there should definitely be 1 or hopefully 2 heartbeats if alls well. They said I could have another scan in 7 days but think it's better I wait a bit longer.

I had my 1st scan at exactly your gestation, 5+4. I'd had a bleed at 5+1, they told me to come back in 72 hours as that was the earliest they could scan. They said I had 2 sacs, one bigger than the other. One was just over 10mm, one was 9mm. Told me to go back in 2 weeks.

Saw 2 little heart beats at 7+4. They were now 8 Smile.

Good luck Smile

I also had an early scan at around 5 weeks. They were two sacs with fetal poles, one bigger than the other abs too early to see heartbeats.

I was told to wait for 10 days & to be aware that they might not both continue to grow. 10 days later there were two heartbeats but still a slight size difference. After 12 weeks, the smaller twin actually increased in size & became the biggest, he is still the bigger one today Smile. They are almost 1 now.

Good luck, it is so worrying when you are waiting.

Thanks girls.
It's such a horrible wait, I'm getting totally obsessed with loo roll checking, even though I know I wouldn't necessary bleed if I experience "vanishing twin syndrome".

I feel like I can't get excited about this pregnancy yet or the fact that right now I have twins.

If I win the lottery this weekend I'll have a daily private scan Grin

Oh yes I remember that all too well! Don't worry there will be plenty of time to get excited about having twins, in fact I went froms nervous to excited to indigestion struck to insomniac to 'get these bloody things out of me right now so I can sit/eat/breathe properly again' all within 38 weeks Grin

Lol - the next time I probably will relax is when they are 18 & move out lol.

Still really Struggling with the not knowing, time literally seems to have stopped and all I can do is google horrible stuff Sad if it's not meant to be at least if I know I can grieve an move on, the waiting is horrible.

Really hope by the end of the week I can add a positive story to this thread Smile

My 10 month old BoyBoy twins are fast asleep as I'm typing this, but at the first 4 scans I had, I was convinced one of them wouldn't make it as his sac was so much smaller, and they could barely pick up his heartbeat on the first scan (at 6 weeks). Anyway - he's now the heavier of the two and there's absolutely nothing wrong with either of them!
