Anyone with an African partner find their family a bit loud?

My partner is from east Africa and comes from a very large family. We have 3 DC together. I just find his sisters are so loud and just talk over the top if each other all the time :-/ I guess it's just how they are but I feel I need a pair of ear defenders every time there is a family gathering lol

I think it's to do with the size of the family and not really where they come from. My English mum has loads of siblings, they all had loads of children and they're all really loud. Family gatherings are exhausting Grin.

Nope.
Wherever you go in the world some people are quiet and some not.
Africa is a huge continent with a wide variety of peoples and cultures so loudness is certainly not an 'african thing'

my husband is kenyan and many of his family are quiet. Some are outgoing and chatty. Some of our friends are talkative and others shy.

i have not noticed any particular style of interaction that i could link to country, continent or ethnicity.

I think the individuals you happen to know happen to be loud. Nothing more.

Good point shattners.

Number of siblings probably has more to do with tendancy to shout your way than does continent of birth. Grin

Although my husband is one of ten and only chatty when drunk Grin
