Any Australians? whats a "pair of pilchers" in english?

As the title says really- I was reading an Australian authored book on birth 7 babies and the kit list for a new born included the rather baffleing ( to me) line.
4 pairs pilchers (the fluffy kind)

I'm stumped, can't think what they are , but now curious to find out.
