Stormbreaker(Alex Rider)- suitable for 8yr olds?

Hi - am planning a spy b'day party at home for my soon to be 8yr old. He has started talking about wanting to read the alex rider books and see Stormbreaker. Was thinking we could show the film at his party. I haven't had a chance to see it yet and was wondering if any of you guys have seen it? Do you think it would be suitable for a bunch of 8yr old boys or is there too much violence (it's a PG I think).
