DS is 3 and loves Studio Ghibli (ok, we might be a bit biased when choosing his film watching) and we now buy a new one for Christmas each year.
We have Spirited Away, Nausicaa and Princess Mononoke which are too old for him, then Howl's Moving Castle, My Neighbour Totoro, Kiki's Delivery Service and The Cat Returns which he loves
Any opinions on Porco Rosso, Arietty or Pom Poko?

Aged 3, I would suggest Ponyo; then Arrietty. Porco Rosso when he's a bit older or Laputa.
DD (4), who went as Totoro to world book day this year, likes PandaGoPanda. It's two long episodes rather than a film. It was not a thing of beauty but it had no 'bad bits' in and has a catchy theme tune. We got it from forbidden planet for about £4.
We also bought Whisper of the Heart because it was a U certificate and had a cat on the front cover. It's a teen romance story as it turns out, not something I thought DD would enjoy but she stuck with it.
Def Ponyo. DS watched Spirited Away and was fine with it and loves Laputa now too. Totally agree that nausicaa and mononoke way too old
Pom poko is bloody weird.. do you know the story?
Second the suggestion for Panda Go Panda
We've got ponyo as well, which he ADORES
We'll give laputa a go...thankyou!

Pom poko is great but there are a few references to the racoons scrotums! Not in sexual way at all but definitely there! My 2.5 yo loves nausicaa and spirited away, howls moving castle is wonderful too. Ponyo is lovely and very innocent.and panda go panda is bonkers but great.
