Looking forward to some good books. Should be interesting...

Lots of reading and crocheting time sounds good Dysgu.

No book received here yet, is it on its way Aristo? (Have just finished a book and not sure whether to start another or wait for its arrival - decisions, decisions)

Dysgu Sat 09-Mar-13 23:55:04

Sorry aristo book did not make it into the post! Is all packaged - DD2 chose the chocolate so it may be more her choice than yours! Will either give to DP to post on Monday or will post it myself - by driving into bigger town where the roads are flat as I cannot walk up and down the hill to get into town here anymore!

Dysgu Mon 11-Mar-13 20:58:24

I posted the book (and chocolate) to you today aristo

aristocat Mon 11-Mar-13 22:48:32

Thanks Dysgu will let you know when it arrives. Glad you are feeling well and we have all got our fingers crossed for you smile

I will post to you tomorrow Lola sorry it is late - I have only just finished reading it!

aristocat Tue 12-Mar-13 13:04:16

Thanks Dysgu I have it already, have posted today to Lola so it should arrive soon smile

LolaLadybird Thu 14-Mar-13 19:35:36

Aristo - book received today, thank you. Looks like a good one, can't wait to get started. When you said in the card you're sending it early, do you mean you're sending the next one (April) early and that today I have received March's? (easily confused)

Dysgu Thu 14-Mar-13 22:18:15

Hi all - Evan David Nelson Langford made a quick, early arrival at 3.16 am this morning after something of a dash to the hospital! He weighs exactly 5 lb and is perfect.

I did have niggling pains at around 11pm but they were not hurting and as contractions had stopped on Tuesday I did not pay them much attention and headed to bed. I was woken with a GUSH at 2.05 am and within 5 minutes big contractions were coming. I timed a few and they seemed to be up to 90 seconds long and coming every 2 or 3 minutes so I woke DP about 2.25 am and called my parents to come over to be with DDs.

DDad headed over - but whilst living very close, the floating bridge that connects to two towns does not run between midnight and 5am so he had to drive the long way round and there are traffic works that cause a long diversion - even though there was very little traffic!

DDad arrived and we left home at 2.55 am. We are close to the hospital so were there by 3.05 am and I had been told when I called to head straight for Labour Ward and not maternity. As I walked in to Labour Ward they were just preparing a delivery room so I had an other contraction before climbing onto the bed. MW was connecting the monitor and trying to take my BP etc and I told her I needed to push. She told me all was fine and gave me the gas and air so I told DP to tell her I needed to push! They managed to undress me from the waist down after my second contraction on the bed.

I remember saying "it's coming. I promise you, it's coming" and she said yes, it was fine.

And there was a baby on the bed between my legs! We had been in the delivery room less than 10 minutes!

I think everyone was surprised at just how quickly he made an appearance! I think he rode out on a wave of amniotic fluid as the place was soaked (and my slippers, which were on the floor, have had to be binned!)

1st degree tear so no stitches. Gas and air to deliver the placenta.

Dp went down to NICU where they had taken the baby and came back with first pictures. Then DP headed home and was home before DDs got up for school/pre-school. They came to meet their baby brother after school and have declared they love him and want him to come home soon and that we should keep him!

I am now home - hoping to get some sleep in my own bed and hospital is a hard place to sleep as alarms go off all the time. They don't have a transition ward here - that is the next step and they are currently setting it up. I will go in again in the morning and have been given a pump to use as we try to establish a milk supply. Nothing happening yet - at all - with hand expressing or the pump but I will keep going. I have struggled before and only managed to express any milk until both DDs' due dates before giving up....

Hope all else are well - off to sleep for a bit before trying to express again.

OMG, I'm crying here. What a lovely story. Huge congratulations to you all, and a big welcome to baby Evan.

artifarti Fri 15-Mar-13 14:12:52

Many congratulations Dysgu! Glad that all is well. And a lovely name (you too Lola wink)

Oooh, I love a newborn but not quite enough to produce another one now that DS2 is finally sleeping haha.

stickylittlefingers Fri 15-Mar-13 22:57:18

oh what lovely news! Congratulations Dysgu and family smile Quick work there, well done! Hope you are indeed getting some sleep and having a lovely time with your snuggly little boy xx

Dysgu Tue 19-Mar-13 21:15:35

Thank you for the kind words and thoughts. DS is still in NICU and will be there for a while - they never tell you how long, just to aim for bringing them home on their due date (which is 6 weeks away!) We are hopeful that he might be out of his incubator by the end of the week - we have managed a couple of cuddles but he is jaundiced and under special lamps and also struggling to maintain his own temp outside the incubator.

I could sit and watch him all day - but can't as DDs keep me busy too!

However, not that I would necessarily have time for it - but I have not received a book yet this month sad

Has anyone seen or heard of JohnWorf? I am off to hunt her down and send a PM to check she is okay...

Dysgu Tue 19-Mar-13 23:29:56

I have tracked down JW - book will be mailed tomorrow.

I only thought of it as I was looking at the big bars of chocolate in the shop today...

aristocat Mon 25-Mar-13 18:19:41

Lola I am posting your next book in the morning smile It is only a short one so you will finish it quickly too.

How are you Dysgu and your DS? Are you managing to read at all? Do you have the next book?

LolaLadybird Thu 28-Mar-13 17:31:16

Book arrived yesterday Aristo - thank you.

Apologies but I will be posting to you late this month AgentP. We are going away for a week on Saturday and I won't quite get this month's book finished before I go (in my defence I got it late!). I will post it on to you as soon as we're back though so you should get it around 10th April.

That's ok - I've got a couple to read for my RL book group. Have a lovely break.

SLF, I'll post yours tomorrow.

Just come back on to the thread - a belated congrats to you Dysgu!

Happy Easter all

Dysgu Fri 29-Mar-13 23:15:52

Thanks for all the kind thoughts.

Have sent PM to AP re current book.

Evan came home from the hospital today - is 15 days old, 5lb 3oz and doing well. Is currently fast asleep on me but am about to try transferring him to his moses basket - fingers crossed!

Congratulations on getting him home. I've got your PM, but I'm ashamed to say I'm too drunk to understand it. blush.

I'll reply tomorrow. X

Dysgu Sat 30-Mar-13 15:26:30

AP grin

LolaLadybird Fri 12-Apr-13 16:27:40

AgentP - apologies for not posting book yet. We got back at the weekend but I've not been well this week and completely forgot about posting. Will try and make it to post office tomorrow morning but, if not, will definitely post on Monday. It is an easy read so you'll have no trouble getting through it.

LolaLadybird Sat 13-Apr-13 12:21:09

Hi AP - just a quick note to say I posted to you this morning first class so hopefully with you on Monday.

LolaLadybird Sat 13-Apr-13 12:24:36

Itsjusta - have you started a thread for your book this time round? Can't see one but possibly I'm being a bit dim .... (it has been known smile)

artifarti Sun 14-Apr-13 10:29:07

I think this round is coming to an end this month, isn't it? Anyone up for another round? There have been some great books this time.

Hope all are well and baby Dysgu is continuing to thrive smile My 'baby just turned one, I don't know where the time has gone!
