Hello again! I hope you like this book... you might be getting an idea of books I like, the ones I put in seem all to have been a bit similar. Will try to be more left field next time!
I liked the setting of this book and the little twists - that Evelyn couldn't represent her clients as well as she should be able to because of the prejudice against her, which would have been so dispiriting that on top of your own weariness of the prevailing attitudes you would have to deal with the guilt of not being a good advocate for your client.
Also that as well as the tragedy of losing so many young men, families also lost sons and brothers before they had really got to know the finished article. That might "only" mean that a dead man's memory was viewed with rose-tinted spectacles, but also the danger that someone might come back to reveal an unwelcome truth, leaving the family to cope with the death of their memory as well.
All so cheery! Hope you like it nevertheless!
