Miscarriage/pregnancy loss

Not looking like their will be a good outcome this time....

I took a pregnancy test last week and got a BFP. A few days later I noticed a little bit of blood when I went to the loo. Not much just a bit on the toilet paper. This stopped and then restarted yesterday.

I went to the gyne and they did a scan. I thought I should be about 6.5 weeks but the scan showed just over 5 weeks.

The Dr said he wasn't sure of the outcome and that it could go either way. He started me on progesterone supplements and said I have to come back in 10 days for a viability scan (that is if I don't miscarry before then).

Was a little hopeful as the bleeding stopped. However it has now started again - just a little on the toilet paper. TBH though I don't feel pregnant anymore....

Not sure how to feel about everything.....

I take Thyroxin for a slightlý underactive thyroid. Does anyone know if it would help if I got the dose increased?

Thanks for reading....just needed to let it all out.,...

Don't know about the Thyroxin sorry. But wanted to say I am sorry you are going through this.

I am in the same boat myself. My scan is this afternoon. I should be 5+3 today but I started red bleeding this morning after the odd bit of brown spotting so expecting the worse, even though its stopped again.

Thinking of you through the wait x

Thanks Julezboo for your kind words even though you are going through it as well.....

I hope that your scan goes well....There are lots of people on this board who have a good outcome even with bleeding.....

Lets hope it's going to be ok for both of us x

Thanks ilovespinach.

I have read many stories about good outcomes with bleeding. I did myself with DS2. Even started the same day. But sadly with 7mc's behind me its hard to remain positive.

I take thyroxine 100mcg daily. I was told before ttc to get my blood tested to make sure levels were normal. And as soon as I was pregnant I had to inform my doctor and they would arrange regular tests as pregnancy can make put the thyroid under pressure and necessitate a need for an increased dose. Don't increase your dose yourself - get your doctor to test. A midwife did say that usually the first 12 weeks doesn't affect your thyroid too much however I have also read that in the first 12 weeks it is very important to make sure levels are okay so check this out with your doctor.

I hope everything turns out well for you and I wouldn't worry to much about the bleeding -apparently it is very common in early pregnancy.

Julezboo - keeping fingers crossed for you. I can't imagine the pain of 7 mc's. I am currently waiting results and a final scan for what is looking likely to be my 2nd m/c (both at 12 weeks) and with no bleeding whatseover and it is truly an awful thing to go through.

Best wishes to you both xx

With best wishes xx

hi ilovespinach

I have underactive thyroid and took 50 mcg for awhile now, when I was pg before they checked my levels regularly and by term i was taking 150 mcg, first inc to 100 then 150 mcg. After my baby born at the 6 week check etc I was advised to go back to my usual dose of 50mcg.

However coincidentally I was at consultant appt in march this year (15 mths after dd born) and i happened to mention i would be hoping to ttc in a few months, he reviewed my thyroine level and said better to be toward top end of range than bottom esp if planning a pg as low levels can cause problems with low IQ in baby, as my levels were in normal range but at low end he increased me to 75 mcg.

If you havent already mentioned to your gp specifically about ttc and thyroxine in the same visit I would and see what they say - may even refer to endochrine consultant??

good luck & I am sorry to hear of your losses xx
