I have just found out that there is a possibility that ginger root can cause miscarriage and I am now terrified that I did this inadvertantly. I started taking ginger root tablets at 9 weeks and a few days later is when symptoms stopped, I kept saying to husband that they must have been doing their job. I was nervous of taking them and checked with two midwives and also googled the net about the amount to take - everywhere said 1000mg a day was safe but my tablets were 550mg each and I was taking two but figured that a little bit over wouldn't harm. Both midwives told me it was okay...OH SHIT did I do this because of the ginger?

I would STRONGLY disagree with you about this.

I say this from experience of 5 mcs.

I say this with the confidence of bieng where you are now, going over every second of every day prior to my losses.

Absolutely nothing you did has caused this. Nothing.

Absolutely nothing that you did caused your loss, please please dont torture yourself with these thought.

i'm not sure i understand your message- have you definitely had a miscarriage or are you just worrying because your symptoms have stopped?

I had a miscarriage last week I was scanned at 8+4 and everything was good but I was really feeling sick so started taking the ginger root at 9 weeks and within a few days my symptoms stopped completely.

i'm so sorry, how horrible. i don't know anything about ginger root i'm afraid but please don't beat yourself up. miscarriage is bad enough without blaming yourself. it's almost never to do with anything the mother does. Babies are born to alcoholics, heroin addicts and women in war zones.

also just read your long and sad history of MC....you obviously have had a lot of awful issues with pregnancies in the past, which makes it even less likely your loss this time is somehow due to you taking a few more mgs of ginger root than technically recommended. please forgive yourself the ginger root.

Loubilou

Stop beating yourself up - we all go through it - I inadvertantly took evening primrose, and then read it can cause contractions - and had to stop myself looking for how I might have caused it because it was driving me crazy.
