Questions following Bad EPRC

Hi I was hoping that someone might be able to give me some advice, as to be honest I might as well talk to a wall when talking to most of the Dr's in my local hospital. I had a EPRC on the 12th October following a MC and a week later I called my emergency doctor complaining of heavy bleeding. I was admitted onto the Gynaecology ward where the Dr there managed to remove some product remaining by hand (nice hey!) I stayed in over night and was then assured I was going to go for a scan the next day to make sure it had all been removed. The Dr was so confident he had removed it all that he didn't bother sending me for a scan in the end and sent me home with antibiotics. Anyway I went on with my life over the last six weeks and was starting to feel back to normal when on Monday I hemridged and was rushed into hospital via ambulance. The blood loss was quite bad and just avoided transfusion. After several hours trying to stop the bleeding it settled and I was finally sent for a scan the next day. The scan shows that there is still some retained product and after doing a urine test the results still show that the hormones in my body still think they are pregnant. The Dr still does not want to send me for a repeat EPRC as the risk now the womb has contracted back down may cause infection etc and he still believes that it will pass naturally WHAT CAN I DO? I feel so down and so upset, I have not gone back to work yet through fear of hemridging again, as they have told me that this cannot be guaranteed. I have booked to go private hoping I get the answer there but just feel like I need people to talk to about it. Has anyone had anything similar? Can anyone help with advice or reassurance? Thank you.

ask to see another doc and get another opinion
your GP may be able to help with this

if you want another erpc you can demand one

if you were going to pass the tissue then you would have done so by now - you might still be bleeding into 2010 at this rate

you can of course go private for the whole procedure

good luck

Hi there so sorry for your loss.
I was told at 9 weeks that a had a mmc and i started to bleed that night. I had heavy bleeding with lots of clots and tissue for 3 weeks. I than had another scan but a 2nd sac was found and a week later i bled heavy again. Then had another scan and sac was still there but smaller. I was left for another 3 weeks and just had spotting. Went for scan last week and sac still there so they gave me medication which makes your uterus contract and expel whats there. I have been bleeding heavy now since wednesday and passing clots so i am hoping that this is it. Maybe you could ask for the medication to remove the last of it but i would be nervous if you have already had a heamorage. Mine has been going on now for nearly 9 weeks so i know how you feel and i don't blame you for going private. The nhs has alot to answer for. I am under the epau at my hospital and they have been great, why don't you give your unit a call and speak to them. They can scan you and give you some answers. I hope this helps you. The drug i was given was called misoprostal.
