Miscarriage/pregnancy loss

Started mc today, will I be able to work next week?

Had a scan yesterday showing a sac measuring about 5 weeks but today have had quite a bit of cramping and been passing large clots so it's looking pretty final.

Have some freelance work booked next week that if I pull out of I will lose a lot of money, and I'm the only one bringing in income this month.

For those who have been through this before. Is the most painful bit generally over within a few days?

so sorry for your loss.

I ended up with a D and C after my MC, I then didn't work for over a week afterwards, but was a pretty physical job, with young children. I wasn't in much pain a week later iirc.

I'm very sorry digitalgirl

I had severe pain and passing clots Saturday/Sunday and a little yesterday but today I'm fine and I'm at work just very very tired. Was 9-10 weeks but no development from 6 weeks. I think it very much varies person to person and pregnancy to pregnancy. But I would hope you will be OK by next week. Take care.

Sorry digitalgirl
I had a MC at six and a half weeks, I left work when I started cramping/bleeding, took the next day off and then went back the next day. I was very surprised that there really wasn't much pain at all for me. Even if you have no pain, will you be OK emotionally? For me, work took my mind off it but others may prefer to curl up in bed.
Take care of yourself anyway.

digitalgirl so sorry you having to go through this.

I think is hard to know cos everyone different. But I had a MC at 10 weeks and after some spotting - it eventually happened on a sunday afternoon. The worst of it all happened that day - after that I had 7 days of bleeding, but was ok in myself physically. I went to work on the thursday - so had 3 days off after the mc. It was a bad move, so I took the Friday off - but was back in the following monday and was ok.

Mentally it took a while - but physically I was ok.

I think you will have to see how you feel - but generally the desire to 'get on with normal life' was stronger than most other stuff for me...

xx

So sorry you have to go through this.
I had 2 m/c at about the same time, both were just a bit heavier than normal period, so no major complications.
hope you feel better soon.x

Thanks for all your responses. Sorry to hear you've all had the same dreadful experience.

I started bleeding on Sunday night, so it's been on the cards for a couple of days. The scan yesterday gave me false hope when I saw the sac was still there. But now it's looking very unlikely, although I won't know for sure until the follow up scan next Tuesday.

But if, as you say, the worst tends to pass over a couple of days then as long as I'm not having to dash to the toilet every 15 minutes to change a pad then I think I'd rather be busy at work (still easier than looking after my 14mo DS at home).

I dread going to the loo to pass more clots, but I suppose it's better that it's happening quickly.
