o rhesus neg mum

(10 Posts)
im rhesus negative but dp tested rhesus negative too so i didnt have the anti-d jabs during pregnancy. i had a car crash at 12 weeks (not serious no bleeding) and a bleed at 9 weeks.
when dd was born she was positive (although they messed her results and didnt label them straight away?) and retested dp as rhesus negative with a slight positive, a very very rare blood group. after these tests i had an anti-d jab but it was approx 30 hours after her birth.
im now worried i would have problems when we try for our 2nd baby.

I have had four dcs and have A- blood.

Good luck to your dd.

Out of my 4 dcs I have one dd, she's the only rhesus negative.

I have just suffered my first MC and already have a 4 yr old son. I am R-ve and this is something I asked when I went for my scan and they said the blood doesn't actually cross the placenta until around 12 weeks, before this the baby gets nutrition from the yolk sac in the egg, hence why anti-D is not necessary before 12 weeks, this also means that your blood group cannot be the cause of MC before 12 weeks. HTH

thank you x
Hi juliet I'm just like arena, I had my son in 2002, then had 2 mc's, and am now 30 weeks pg. The doctors put the mc's down to bad luck. I did have anti-d after my son was born and after the first mc, but not after the second, so there's not really a pattern there. I'm sorry for your daughters losses and hope she has a successful pregnancy soon smile

thanks 4 that advice fingers crossed 4 next time.
Hi Juliet2 im also o rhrsus neg, i had my son in 2003 and after him i have had 2 mc.

Cos both times the mc was before 12 weeks they don't give the anti D. Im now 32 weeks pregnant, so i think it was just bad luck for me.

Good luck to your daughter, im sure she will have a successful pregnancy.

thanks twinklegreen for your advice lets hope next time she goes on to have a normal pregnancy
It shouldn't be a reason for the miscarriages unless she has antibodies in her blood from previous pregnancies, so the 1st MC would definately not been caused by this. They can find this out with a blood test. Although once the antibodies are there I don't think you can get rid of them, but at least you will know.

I have had 3 successful pregnancies and 1 MC and am A- blood type. I have had an anti-d jab after all my births and was told that as my MC was before 12 weeks I didn't need an anti-d.

I know it's very hard at this stage but many people go on to have successful pregnancies after 2 MC. Best wishes for your daughter in the future.

Links The simplest way to insert a link is to enter the link itself, surrounded by [[ and ]]. So if you type [[www.mumsnet.com]], the link will display as http://www.mumsnet.com. If you want your link to display text other than the web address itself, leave a space after the address then add the text before the ]]. So "Look at [[www.mumsnet.com this page]]", would display "Look at this page".
