Hi there Im just wondering if any one knws is there any link between having a ceserean and then going on to having miscarriages? I had my ds 15 months ago(first pregnancy) and have now had an early miscarriage. Some ppl have told me its bcos my womb isnt healed properly etc and that u shud wait 2 yrs after a ceserean to try again. Does anyone knw anything abt this or had a similar experience? Im also worrying that this means ill always have problems with my uterus due to the c-section. The EPU have told me nothing, infact havent even scanned me to confirm the miscarriage. They just said the baby mustnt have been viable. Any info or experiences pls share thanks.

Hey Hanifah

Sorry to hear about your miscarriage.

I too had a section with my son, but this was 3 years ago. I miscarried in April and this was the first pregnancy for me since giving birth to my son. Interesting theory though. I have often wondered about that, they cut through several layers of skin, you wonder how it would be possible to repair itself.
My medical knowledge though is zero, so I hope this isn't true.

Hi, hi havent heard that before and know lots of people who have had caesarians who have gone on to have successful 2nd pregnancies. I dont know what the research is if there is any link but I do think we all tend to look for reasons why. I have had 2 miscarriages then 3 successful pregnancies (without caesarians) then another 2 miscarriages. I have all boys and so have wondered if there is a problem for me carrying girls, age, bicorneate uterus etc. I know sometimes there are reasons but an awful lot of the time there is no real explanation.

hi thanks for sharing your experiences and sorry to hear about your losses. Ive finally gotten an appointment for a scan tommorrow so at least I will know for sure what has happened. The only time Ive seen any research about a link between the two was on websites which are for vbac and are giving the negatives on caesarians - one of them they claim is a higher risk of miscarriage. Anyway thanks for your advice guys
