Anyone else miscarried due to the mirena??

Had my Mirena coil out on Monday as it was hurting and after a scan was found to be 'stuck' in the side of my womb. GP advised it be removed but was concerned that I may be pg (due to cycle dates and sex etc....) Turned out I was pg but was advised that I would probably MC after the coil was removed. I woke up on Thursday morning to a lot of blood on the sheets and haven't stopped blleding since. It is very heavy and painful. Am now on tablets to help the blood flow.

I really don't know how to feel about. I feel like I should be devastated but I actually don't feel like I have lost a baby, just that I am having a really heavy period.

I was curious of this had happened to anyone else??

I got pg on the mirena but in my case it had slipped down into my cervix and so it was just a little pull for them to take it out. I was still sent home to rest for 24 hours in bed just in case.
My dd2 is now three and a half.
It took me a long time to get my head round it because I had not planned to have any more children for many reasons, including bad PND and physical health problems during my pregnancies. I was very seriously ill in pregnancy and almost lost a kidney following dd2's birth.
I know how you feel about being ambivalent. You didnt know that the baby was there, you hadn't bonded, planned, etc... And while I would never have countenanced a termination due to my beleifs, I do know I would have felt very much the same as you if I had lost the baby back then, though now she is very much part of the family.
I dont know if this helps at all as I had a totally different outcome. But you are the only other person I have ever come in contact with who got pg on the mirena.
BTW dh had the snip after that!!!

Oh and do take care of yourself over the next wee while, esp if the bleeding is heavy, call a doctor. I have had 3 m/c for other reasons and it can be pretty traumatic - be gentle adn nice to yourself over the next few days.
(((hugs)))

FB - i am sorry to hear about what you have been through. I think it is perfectly ok to be feeling like you do about not losing a baby. You did not know you were pregnant and if you werent told this was a miscarraige, and obviously because its heavy and shitty painful, then you wouldnt have even known. Apparently lots of pregnancies end this way without the woman ever knowing she was pregnant.

Sorry to hear that I'm surprised they didn't ensure you weren't pg before removing it tbh. Hope you recover soon.

You cant keep a mirena in if you are pg cos of the hormones in it - children can be born with a normal coil in (usually buried in teh placenta) but it causes all sorts of problems in a normal pregnancy, especially if it is a boy, with all the female hormones!

this happened to me when i switched contraceptives.i was advised to have the mirena coil, but 2wks after having it fitted i passed conception products.i have a retroverted uterus and i read in my notes that it wasnt fitted correctly as it was in the wrong place in my womb which allowed me to become pregnant again.i have now just suffered an anembryonic pregnancy at 11 wks

hi, so sorry for you but dont feel bad about it, I had a coil and got pregnant, the coil had moved and was in my cervical canal but they were not able to get it out. We lost our little boy when i was 18 weeks pregnant.
I have since read that having a coil increases the chance of miscarriage by 50% after 12weeks. It is such a gamble, i wish somebody had told us this before. x x

My daughter n law had this inserted and never made it out of the doctors office. It mad her very sick, lighted head, ready to toss her cookies. She had a scan done and it was inserted wrong and had punched a whole in her cervix or uterus(I'm not sure which) it had to immediately be removed. Two weeks ago she found out she was 4 weeks pregnant and lost the baby days later. She blames the wrong placement of Mirena.Anyone else have this problem? We are wondering will this happen every time they try to conceive?

had my mirena taken out because it moved and was in danger of puncturing through cervix or womb can't remember exactly! fell pregnant shortly afterwards and misscarried at 8 weeks, doctors obviously couldn't say that the mirena was the reason for this but i think that it contributed.
