Measuring 4 weeks when dates say 6 weeks

Quick background: I am 42, and since 2013 have had MMC, DD, MC, MC, MC, MC.

Given my history when I found out I was pregnant two weeks ago, I went to the MC specialist at my hospital. I had a scan which showed a thickening in my womb but nothing else. Bloods showed I was pregnant but beta levels low (less than 100), although they almost doubled in 48 hours. At this point I was about five weeks since LMP.

Had another scan yesterday and consultant could see a small dot, and said it looked like I was 4 weeks pregnant, rather than the 6 weeks suggested by my LMP. She said it's possible I ovulated late but given I tested positive on CD27, I am not sure how possible this could be? I am also convinced I didn't have sex around the end of October as my husband was away and then sick.

She said the other possibility is that the embryo isn't going to develop at the right level and I would miscarry.

Is it possible to ovulate late but be able to test positive on CD27?

Is it possible that a six ( or even five week) embryo could look like a four week dot?

I've got to return next week to see if they can see a yolk and sac but I feel like I am going to go demented by then.

I am just sitting here thinking I cannot deal with having my sixth miscarriage. It just feels so surreal. I really want to have some hope to hold on to but I also feel emotionally exhausted with this and dealing with possible happiness or possible loss.

Sorry I am rambling

Oh god...I'm so sorry you're in this shitty limbo. I've been there and it is awful. And I'm so sorry for your previous losses. flowers

Sadly for me, when my early scan measured five days behind it did not end happily. However I did go on to have DD2 one year later. I so hope you get some good news very soon. I will keep everything crossed for you and here for a handhold and brew in the mean time.

My friend got put back to 6 weeks at 8 weeks and he's a strapping 16 year old now. Sadly when I measured a week behind I miscarried soon after. I went on to have a child after 3 consecutive miscarriages, which I put down to having very low vitamin D identified and rectified.
