Waiting to try again vs straight away

For those of you who are planning on ttc again, when do you plan on starting to try again?

Had so much conflicting advice as to how long is best to wait.

I had a miscarriage in November 2013 and was told as soon as my periods returned I could start trying.

Periods came back end of January 2014 and I was pregnant by March. I would say it depends how you're feeling emotionally.

I was told there's no medical reason to wait at all (other than making your next pregnancy easier to date) so as soon as you've stopped bleeding you're good to go. Emotionally though, it's harder to say. I was desperate to try again so we did straight away, the disapointment of it not happening right away has been pretty hard to manage ontop of the miscarriage. I really don't think I could have waited though, I needed something to focus on.

Sorry for your loss. I had an early miscarriage (6weeks or similar) when ttc for my second. On the advice of my friend who was an obs and gynae doctor, I tried again straight away and never had another period. My dd2 is three and a half

I tried before my first AF after MMC. Unfortunately It didn't take, but I felt better for trying.

I think it can depend on individual and their circumstances. I had a MMC at 7 weeks when an early scan found that the pregnancy had not progressed much past conception and was told that this is something that sometimes just happens and advised that I should wait 1 cycle. I think i waited three months before trying again.

I had a late miscarriage at 18 weeks this year and the consultant we saw at our follow up appointment said that she has found that in cases such as mine (pre term birth) she has found that in her clinic for high risk expectant mothers better results have been found when the person has waited between 6mths-18mths. Bit of a long bracket though so not sure how much weight i put behind that statement but she's the professional i guess!

I've heard so many differing stories though on the net, I really do think it just depends on the individual.

I work for a gynaecologist and often read her books! Stats show no evidence of increased risk of another loss if ttc straight away. In fact stats show increased rate of a successful pregnancy if u conceive within 6 months of a miscarriage. Just wanted to share!

I have PCOS so have really irregular cycles. I had a mc last week (you replied to my thread Flowers ) so my first period could be anything from two weeks to 6 months away. Also, I'm 38 in a couple of days, so I don't have time to wait and see. Following my scan I spoke with one of the nurses on the EPAU and my GP and they both didn't see any issue with me ttc as soon as I feel ready. I think it is mainly an issue as it can be difficult to date the pregnancy.

Hello, I had a natural mc two weeks ago at 6+4 weeks and bled for a week, we started TTC again as soon as I stopped bleeding. They say you should wait until after your first period to TTC again but in our case we were so devastated it's the only thing that brought us hope, trying again. Good luck Flowers

I really wouldn't worry too much re dating the pregnancy, it's not absolutely vital that you know the date of your last period.

The scan will allow them to date the pregnant, like the dating scan is meant to do.

Just go for it if you feel physically & emotionally ready.
