Its been 2 1/2 weeks since my ERPC procedure and I am still getting a positive when I POAS. How long should it take to go back to negative?

Mine has taken 4 weeks and turned negative on first day of period. It's a frustrating wait isn't it? My ERPC was only because of a failed medical so I was actually waiting much much longer.

Thanks for your reply. The hospital told me to call them if a test showed a positive after 3 weeks so will do another on Monday.

It is definitely frustrating- We just want to ttc asap but I'd like to wait for a negative test first to avoid disappointment.

I took another test this morning and there was still a faint positive so that's 3 1/2 weeks after my ERPC. :(

I've had three miscarriages and it's always taken till the end of my next period to get a true neg test. In fact with my last miscarriage I just refused to test at all, it was too upsetting. Sometimes you get a small piece of remaining tissue that gets flushed out with your period and it's this that gives off small anounts of HCG.

I'm so sorry for your loss Flowers

Each miscarriage was different. Two natural, one at 6 weeks, one where it was non viable from the start (numbers never went above two hundred). The last an ERPC under general after the heart beat stopped at 11 weeks (was tested and the baby had downs). But each time the sane thing happened afterwards strangely enough. 4 weeks of bleeding, then period started around the time it would have done normally, bled as usual and then tested negative afterwards. The only slight anomaly was with the first miscarriage where I had a further bleed a few days after my period stopped with lots of cramps and passed some clots. Then I tested negative.

My cycles then took about three periods to act normal again, but I was in my late thirties so didn't have the reproductive cycle of a young woman.

I did manage to conceive successfully last year at 40 and now have a five months old spread eagled to the side of me. So don't give up hope xxx

It took me about 8 weeks but I had a small amount of retained products

MMC @ 10w, had an ERPC the same day

4 weeks later I'm still getting positive tests, my Dr scans me and can't see any evidence of any retained tissue, and I get bloods done

hCG levels at 4 weeks post ERPC were higher than when I was 4 weeks pregnant!

We agreed a two week cut off: we'd monitor my levels, and if hCG wasn't down to zero within a fortnight then we would do a hysteroscopy to take a closer look.

My levels did drop, but slowly, so @ 6w post ERPC we did a hysteroscopy. Sure enough there was small fragment of retained pregnancy tissue (so small it wasn't showing up on ultrasound). 2 weeks post hysteroscopy (ie 8 weeks post ERPC) I finally got BFN.

We went straight into another round of IVF so couldn't tell you about getting my period (and PCOS means not having cycles anyway)

Wishing you lots of luck and very sorry for your loss Flowers
