Miscarriage/pregnancy loss

Does this sound like a miscarriage?

I'm 4.5 weeks pregnant... 2 days ago I had browny pink very light spotting when wiped.

This stopped then last night I had proper red blood like the beginning of a period. There was quite a lot when I wiped and I had a few drips into the toilet. I put a pad in then went to bed and haven't had anymore red bleeding, nothing on the pad this morning, and just a little bit of dark brown spotting so far today.

I would normally have the heavy red bleeding for at least 2-3 days for my period but have just had the few minutes last night.

I know I'm probably clutching at straws but anybody have any ideas? I know I need to see a doctor to check and will contact them later, although it's too early for a scan to show anything and I don't know if they'll bother with blood tests.

It's horrible not knowing Sad

Hi, poor you, how worrying. I don't think you can tell anything from that amount of bleeding, you would need to get to an early pregnancy unit. I've had early miscarriages and they involved heavier bleeding, like a period, and I've heard of people having bleeds like this & the pregnancy being fine, so I'm sure there's room for hope. The doctor can see you & at least get you booked in for an early as possible scan ? Fingers crossed for you..

Hi, so sorry to hear this... Like it's been said you may be ok as many people to bleed through pregnancies... I would get onto your go asap as the wait for the EPU is sometimes very long... All the best and good luck xxx

Thank you both for your replies...

The spotting has completely stopped and I've only got the stretching pains I had with dd in early pregnancy, no pain still.

I guess it isn't worth doing another hpt as even if I wasn't still pregnant the hgc would still be in my system wouldn't it?

I'm thinking a scan won't show anything at this early stage... No heartbeat or anything? Should I wait a few days for that?

I know I'm clutching at those straws again but I'm thinking that a few drops of blood with no pain, just stopping, couldn't be a miscarriage could it?

My mum's just said she had a day of what she thought was her period then went on to have my sister, so I'm hopeful (or burying my head in the sand Blush )

Any other experiences?

Arghhhh. I'm going through what may be a miscarriage. I'm totally distraught.
I'm still bf my 8 month old so my periods only returned two months ago and are irregular. I am actively ttc. Wednesday, after bootcamp class I started having awful cramps almost like early labour pains and very suddenly started to bleed. Fresh and bright red. I just assumed it was my period early only 19 days since my last one and was a bit taken aback by pain.
By that night the bleeding had completely stopped. I was concerned something wasn't right so msgd my friend who said I may be pregnant. I suddenly thought this maybe case as been nauseous and overly tired the last few days. I got a test. It was immediately pregnant. I was joyous. Messaged my friend who suggested I ring Dr to check all ok as had a bad bleed day before. I did this and Dr rang back and simply said I'd most likely lost it and not to test for 3 weeks. I couldn't believe this so got two different tests. Both positive straight away including digital. My head was spinning but husband told me to fear the worse and not do any more tests.
This morning I went to bootcamp again and before I even finished the cramping started although not as severe and started bleeding again. Fresh and bright red. I'm still bleeding now although it's now dark brown and stringy.
I am losing it aren't I?
Why am I sooooo upset when I didn't even know and already have a beautiful 8 month old.
What do I do now?

HB3 I know you can be more likely to miscarry whilst breast feeding so it is a possibility, but not a certainty. I think the best idea is to see if the bleeding continues and if it does then you could ring your local EPU and see if they will scan you or do as the doctor suggests and test again in a few weeks. So sorry Sad
