Miscarriage/pregnancy loss

Coping with confusion

Hi there,

I'm ttc my first child, I've just suffered my fourth mc, my first was at 9wks, the next 2 at 5 weeks and this week at 6 weeks I started bleeding. My bloods showed hgc below 3. I'm distraught as this time I 'felt' pregnant I could feel stretches in my uterus and I was exhausted I'd just begun to feel confident and bam the bleeding started. I've been blood tested for any obvious disorders and all tests were clear. I'm reading everything I can but getting more and more confused. When I tested all 'cheap' tests were negative but I had a positive twice with clear blue. With my HGC so low could that be the problem? I just so badly want the next one to 'stick'. Any help or advice would be awesome
Willow
Ps I'm 35 so I'm worried time is not on my side, OH is 36

willow I'm so sorry you are going through this, it is awful. Do please come and join the recurrent miscarriage threads for some support, no way I'd have got through the last few of my 4MC without those wonderful bunch of women. Were you referred to see a consultant at a recurrent miscarriage clinic last time or were tests done by your GP? You don't mention a scan which would be a normal part of the workup particularly if you haven't had a previous successful pregnancy. Have you had genetic testing on any of the losses? For those women who are frustratingly 'unexplained' there has been a lot of success on the Coventry protocol (implantation clinic at Coventry University Hospital run by Profs Quenby and Brosens) of progesterone from 7 DPO, heparin from an early scan and prednisolone if uterine NK cells are raised. The theory is that there is a group of women where the lining does not prepare optimally for pregnancy, leading to abnormal receptivity and selectivity of the lining. Typically women get pregnant easily but then repeatedly miscarry. Lots of chat about it on the thread, 3 Coventry babies, several more imminent or cooking, and quite a few recent visitors now TTC and women waiting to go (you have to be 2 cycles post MC)
Do come and join us, it's very lonely being the only person with multiple losses.

I'm pretty sure the HCG being low is a symptom and not a cause of a failing pregnancy. No idea why the Clearblue would read pregnant, since I thought they were less sensitive than the cheaply tests. What's the timing of the home tests relative to the blood test?

Thank you so much baking, good to know I'm not alone! Blood tests were done at EPU, I did have a scan then too but when I miscarried they couldn't see my left ovary clearly enough so they want to double check that. The Coventry stuff looks very interesting me and OH seem to conceive very easily ( he jokes he has super sperm ??) but we never get past the first few weeks. My EPU are calling on Tuesday again to discuss further tests they can do so I'll be armed with this info! No chromosomal tests yet.0, I'm guessing that's next on the cards. I'm straight off to the thread you mentioned now to add myself in. Thank you

Willow
