Miscarriage/pregnancy loss

Was this my third 'miscarriage'?

Hello.

I'm 29, trying to conceive number 1.

I fell pregnant in September 14 straight off the pill but this ended in a mmc and erpc in December.

My first period arrived on time 33 days after the erpc.

I fell pregnant again in February 15 but started bleeding at 5 weeks and blood tests at six weeks showed no HCG left in my system.

I waited for my period to show but there was nothing after 33 days. On day 42 I did a first response and there was a very very faint line that I dismissed as an evap. I left the test on the side and the line did get darker overnight but I still presumed it would be invalid. That was six days ago.

Today I started my period.

Would you go to your gp about this? I'm scared because the last time my gp told me off for trying again even the nurses at the epu told me there was no reason to wait.

I have been diagnosed with hypothyroidism for two years. I had my last blood test in February. My TSH was 2.28 and they said that was fine even though during my first pregnancy they upped my medication when it was 1.8. My doctor is refusing to test my thyroid again or up my medication to get my tsh back to between 1-2 as recommended by nice.

I just don't really know what to do or who to turn to.

Hello, how are you feeling now?

Could you go to another GP who maybe more sympathetic, hopefully they will be able to give you some medical advice. Sorry your going through thisThanks

Hi Snoopy. Is it because of thyroid your doctor said not to try yet? I would probably mention it as I think 3rd miscarriage is usually when they'll start investigations. However underactive thyroid can cause problems with conceiving.
But agree with halestone, can you find a more sympathetic GP?

Hi snoopy, I've been wondering how you are.
If tests showed no hcg in your system, it does sound like a third very early mc- so sorry to hear it. I would go to gp. Please don't be scared. Perhaps arm yourself with some leaflet paraphernalia which says there is no reason to wait (Miscarriage Association info about trying again). If GP is unhelpful, insist on seeing someone else.
I would maybe think about waiting for investigations before trying again now- or possibly just waiting a couple of months for emotional health. It sounds like you conceive super easily.

Hi there,

I can ONLY share my personal experience and the knowledge I have of endocrinology, but the doctor is more likely to look at T4 levels as those are the ones that affect the baby directly. My TSH is presently

Thank you all for your responses.

I just wish there was some consensus across the medical profession. I'm tired of being told one thing by one doctor and another thing by another. If I try and question anything I'm just politely ushered out of the door and nothing is ever answered.

I guess I'll have to speak to my gp again. I'm never told what my levels are unless I ask and at first my gp seemed to want to follow the NICE guidelines and get my TSH close to 1 but six months later she justs seems to have given up or changed her mind.

I just feel my life is on hold at the moment. It's my thirtieth in six months and DHs making all sorts of plans to go away and I just feel like I'm stuck.

I do seem to conceive easily so I don't know what my problem is.
