Periods after miscarriage?

Hi,

I recently had a miscarriage at 12 weeks. I passed everything naturally so there was no intervention. I had my 1st period 4 weeks after the miscarriage, and now bleeding again a week later since the last one finished, so assuming this is another period?

I know things can be a bit all over the place but is this normal or something i need to be worried about? I'm already worrying about receiving a letter to see the consultant in a couple of weeks to discuss our histology results and no sure what to expect. My periods have always been 28 day cycles and never missed a period or had anything irregular so this is very abnormal for me.

I'd love some different opinions on this please ladies. Thank-you x

I don't really have any words of wisdom .... Oh understanding I have is that. Everyone is different!! I had a medical managed mc on 22 December and only just this week has a negative pregnancy test And had what I "think" is my period!! It was lighter in flow and very dark blood but lasted 10 days!! I don't know what's going on with it!

If you keep having random bleeding I would maybe call Gp/EPAU for advice xx

Thanks for your reply and sorry for your loss. I hope you are recovering ok. I'm going to put the second period down as 'one of those things'. Its just weird though. Just wish there was more information available to reassure us everything is ok.

I was coming on to ask a similar question. I had a late miscarriage 3 weeks ago - delivered via induction on labour suite. Bleeding slowed to spotting and then clear/yellow mucus for the last few days but today I have some spotting again as well as some mild cramps on one side. I was treated for a possible infection a week after miscarrying and spent a week on strong antibiotics. Is spotting again normal or should I be concerned? Hope someone might have a clue as I don't!

Hi ProbablyMe,

So sorry to hear about your loss. I'm going to ring the doctor tomorrow to see if he has any advice just to be on the safe side as i'm still having this second bout of bleeding lasting nearly a week now.

If you have suffered an infection it would probably be best to ask a doctor for some follow up advice if it continues as the last thing you would want is for the infection to still be there and the antibiotics not having 100% cleared it up. Good luck x

findwhatfeelsgood did you come to a conclusion about the extra bleed? My HPT is now negative thank goodness - so back to TTC

mrsfazruns, i'm glad your hpt is negative and things are back to normal for you :-) I spoke to the doctor yesterday who advised that things might still be erratic and I should not worry as long as i'm not suffering any pain (which i'm not) which can be a sign of infection. The doc said to see if the bleeding continues for a couple more weeks then to get back in contact!! That would be 3 weeks of additional bleeding! I'm actually past the point of caring now, my marriage is suddenly at breaking point and a little bit of bleeding is the least of my worries now. It's just a constant reminder of what my body has been through and the loss of our child and I could really do without it at the moment. I've done so well to move on with things emotionally and my body won't give me a break. I wish things were not so difficult. I'm sure i'm not the only one, but it is tough.

Oh I'm sorry to hear your marriage is struggling .... I don't know if it's "normal" but me and DH relationship has been tough!! Think we are starting to get back on track now that we can start trying again but it's been so so tough .... Think I could have had a nervous breakdown a few times in the last few months x
