Miscarriage/pregnancy loss

Has anyone managed to get a bfp first cycle after a miscarriage?

I have just had surgical management for a missed miscarriage at ten weeks. The consultant that I spoke to before the op said that the conventional advice is to wait to have one menstrual period before ttc, but that there was no harm in trying before that, and if a baby is going to stick before that, it will. He didn't think that it made any difference to chances of early conception whether you had had a naturally occurring miscarriage or a surgically managed one. So my question is, has anyone managed to get pregnant immediately after a miscarriage, without having a period first? This miscarriage comes less than a year after a full term neonatal loss for us, so we are really desperate to have a successful pregnancy as soon as possible.

Me! Im 12 weeks pregnant and fell pregnant before I had a period after a natural miscarriage at 6 weeks. Dating the pregnancy has been a bit tricky the scan next week will help, otherwise no issues at the moment.

Yes I did. Currently 24 weeks after a bfp following a six week miscarriage. Didn't expect it to happen so quickly but obviously delighted it did. Doctor wasn't overly concerned, I just had an early dating scan to try to accurately pinpoint due date.

That's reassuring SlightlyConfused and School - congratulations on your pregnancies. Onefoot - sorry to hear that you have had so many losses, it must be terribly hard for you at the moment and I hope that you get a sticky one soon.

Yes! I did! And she's a beautiful, healthy 14 month old now!

I had miscarriages at 11/ 12 weeks. The last miscarriage didn't clear completely for weeks and required regular contact with the early pregnancy side of the hospital. I think I had the same advice that you've had about having a period before trying again but I didn't bother waiting. And boom! Was pregnant again straight away. It CAN happen. Also, I was 41 at the time so probably not the most fertile woman in the world. The pregnancy was trouble free and my little one is perfect :) So, I say, go for it!!!

(I came here to look up some stuff about feeding and then I saw this Miscarriage section of Talk. I can remember coming here, looking for encouraging success stories, when I had had miscarriages. And now I'm able to come back here with good news to encourage others! Good luck everyone!)

I'm sorry for your full-term loss and recent MMC. Flowers

They told me the reason they ask you to wait is to help them with dating the new pgy. It's also useful to get BFN before you try for a new BFP so you know what you're doing - so I'd certainly advise getting your hormones down to BFN before TTC again.

DC2 was conceived in the first full cycle after a nasty MMC. His birthday is a year to the day after said MMC.

DC3 was conceived in the first full cycle after a complete MC. His birthday is "nasty MMC"'s due date. It was Meant To Be.

Good luck.

I'm 4+4 having had a miscarriage at 5-6 weeks last month. It was a hell of a shock. Also feels very different - I didn't really have any symptoms last time but I am feeling awful today, much like I did with DD.

I did. I ovulated 14 days after mc and concieved. Unfortunately not a sticky one. But there was a hb at 7 weeks. So fairly sure it was 'me' and not a mc due to the first mc.

So sorry to hear of your losses ,and those of other posters on the thread.
I had a naturally managed MC at 11 weeks, waited a cycle to ttc, conceived immediately,MC at 6 weeks, didn't wait to ttc, ovulated and conceived 14 days after start of MC though sadly miscarried this baby too. We'd had a few scans that showed a heartbeat and growth but this stopped at 9 weeks and I miscarried at 12 weeks. I don't think the loss was anything to do with conceiving so soon,I was 44 so chances were high anyway.
However just as we had decided to give up ttc I conceived again and my beautiful cheeky little DD3 was born when I was 45 so there's always hope!

Hi Girls, I had a D&C from a MMC At 8.4 on the 6th of April, we’ve also tried to conceive straight away this month but I had bleeding and some clots for 2 weeks after trying to conceive. I didn’t get a negative pregnancy test for nearly 3 weeks after.
@BettyFriedansLoveChild
sorry for your loss, we are in Similar situs. Where are you at in your cycle? How close to taking a test are you? Fingers crossed

@slightlyconfused85 @CommanderShepardhi, @Schoolaroundthecornercongrats on your pregnancies! So exciting. When did you ovulate if you don’t mind me asking/ when did you get a BFP, so hard trying to track your cycle? If you wouldn’t mind please would love to hear more. Have no idea when to expect anything this month
