Miscarriage/pregnancy loss

Bleeding but cervix is closed - any positive stories? Think it's called threatened miscarriage?

I've posted a few times over past week as it's been hellish and the scenario keeps developing. I'm 7 weeks pregnant. Had spotting last week so booked early scan to put mind at rest (ha!).

Went to scan hoping to see baby but it showed suspected ectopic in tube and a suspected gestational sac that looked empty. We were sent to hospital where I was admitted and put on drip of fluids.

We thought all hope lost for baby but eventually consultant told us my blood hcg was still high so it was possible I'm earlier than dates thought because I have long irregular cycles.

Rescan on Friday showed mass in tube is corpus luteum rather than embryo and I have a normal shaped gestational sac of 5mm - but still nothing showing in it.

I'm meant to be 7 weeks from dates but I have long irregular cycles so they said it's possible I'm earlier than thought eg 5 weeks. They told me it could still be ectopic so to come straight back if any pain or bleeding, but otherwise to come back in 2 weeks for rescan to see if any development. Meanwhile I've been worried because my pregnancy symptoms seem to have gone.

Today I woke up cramping and bleeding. Thinking the worst we went to hospital presuming it was miscarriage. But doctor says on examination my cervix is closed and my blood hcg has risen.

I'm now getting scanned tomorrow to see if any development.

All in all it's been a very upsetting week, with our emotions going from grief to hope and back again over and over.

I'm bleeding still and I'm cramping. I'm in bed now as it feels better when I lie down.

I'm sure my pregnancy can't survive after all this, but wondered if anyone has any positive stories? I'm still in watch for ectopic as they've said it's still possible.

My threatened mc is now 11 and sitting on the sofa next to me watching Big Bang theory on TV :)
If your hcg has risen you are still pg.
Your cervix is closed ergo you are not contracting.
Please try and rest - I know it's hard x

It could be an implantation bleed?
Have you googled this?
Does it sound likely?
I think that's what mine was - I was 7 weeks too (And Dh was away in the states with work....not a great week!)

I didn't know you could get that at 5-7 weeks. I had implantation bleed 10 dpo. This is very red, like first day period and I'm cramping and have back pain. Very sore

Sorry to sound like
I'm being picky, on this thread you say your blood hcg has risen but on your other thread you say it's dropped?

Confused

Hi I've asked for other thread to be removed as it was originally suspected hcg was dropping but today I found out it's risen, which was a shock. I don't want anyone getting wrong advice from thread if they're in similar situation so asked MN to delete it.

I bled at 5, 7 and 9 weeks - 1st early scan was inconclusive - sac but no heartbeat so had to wait 10 days (had the second bleed between scans) to find out - was totally convinced I was miscarrying but he's now 5months old and fabulous. I really hope tomorrow's scan brings good news x

Those of you who bled - did you get the cramps? The cramps are awful. If olive down they ease but if I stand up it's like the worst period pain

Not good news for me. Sac now hard to see on scan so it's expected I'll start to miscarry very soon. Having bloods tomorrow to confirm as formality.

Good luck to anyone else going through this.

I have a question, how much did you bleed? And for how long?

@CiderRules I have a question, how long did you bleed and how much blood was it?

@blacktreaclecat how long did you bleed for and for how much? Because I’ll be 6 weeks Sunday and for the past 3 days I have had massive bleeding and today it’s practically gone but 2 days ago at the hospital they said my cervix is closed. I go back tomorrow but I’m just scared

Would love to know too but I think the post was from too long ago to expect a reply. I'm in the same boat. I'm 5 weeks and have bleeding and cramping all day today. Doc said its likely a threatened miscarriage and that I should bed rest and wait to see. I just wish I had an idea how long I should expect to rest and wait for...
