I have just found out today that I've suffered another missed miscarriage. I lost my first in June at 14 weeks and the baby measured 13+5 and then felt so lucky to conceive just 6 weeks later. I've been kept an extra eye on and had 2 previous scans this time and seen a heartbeat. However I went today for my 10 week scan and found out the baby was measuring 9+5 and I just feel so lost. Why has this happened again. Last time I delivered the baby in a medically
Managed miscarriage and the baby was tested and found to have no genetic problems and as a precaution I was put on Asprin this time and I must admit I was secretly confident I'd had my bad luck. With it being the weekend I cannot have a d&c (evac) until Monday and it's making the whole situation worse. I was just wondering if any other ladies could share their story so I don't feel so alone :( x

So sorry mumstar a second MC is just devastating. I completely identify with feeling that you've had your share of bad luck and that everything should be ok.
I'm not sure if you're in the UK, since genetic testing not generally available here until you qualify as a recurrent miscarrier (3 consecutive losses) and not always then. It's unusual to lose babies beyond the stage where a heartbeat is seen at 8 weeks, particularly if there are also no genetic problems. It took me 4 losses to find that the cause of mine, which followed a pattern of losses at 9-10 weeks after a HB was seen, was high NK cells, an immune condition treated with steroids. My next pregnancy was successful.
I'd had the standard tests after 3 losses and nothing found, 4th loss I was on aspirin and progesterone, was tested as genetically normal and that's when I went private for immune testing. If you haven't had the standard testing (bloods for diabetes, thyroid, clotting, autoimmune disease, karyotyping, scan) then probably do that first but be aware it only finds a cause about half of cases.
If you want to ask more about testing come post on RMC support thread.

Hi thanks for your reply. I'm sorry to hear of your losses too. I am in the uk. I received testing after my first loss as the pregnancy was 14 weeks which is just into the second trimester so the baby was tested (not me or partner) it came back that nothing was wrong genetically with the baby. This time I was put on Asprin and was was told next time I will also receive progesterone and high dose folic acid. The hospital are sending me and partner for blood tests in 6 weeks, will this pick up the things you mentioned? The lady we saw seemed confident it is just "bad luck" but I can't help but worry there's more to it. Thanks for your reply x

There is a pretty standard set of NHS tests which I would think is what they are planning.
The Nk testing is not available on NHS, but I'd advise you to consider it if nothing is found. You need to be at least 2 cycles post MC and not pregnant to be tested in Coventry implantation clinic. there are doctors in London using blood tests for this condition. If you want to find out more come join the RMC thread on this board, several Coventry graduates there and lots of women going through NHS testing, or there's a thread on the conception board called TTC or pregnant on pred where there are more patients of the London doctors.

If possible, request genetic testing after your ERPC. If it's normal and your NHS tests are normal I personally would not TTC again before going down the NK route. the NHS will throw their hands up and say 'unlucky- try again with x/y/z treatment' I regret listening to them Sad
