Miscarriage/pregnancy loss

frightened I'm going to miscarry

So I should be 6 weeks pregnant tomorrow and certainly must have conceived more than three weeks ago. However, the test lines are very faint and clear blue shows 1-2 weeks and has done for the last fortnight. I only have mild pregnancy symptoms. Is there much of a chance if my hgc levels only create a faint line or 1-2 weeks. My first very faint positive was ten days ago and tests are not getting much darker. should I see my go next week. I'm frightened the baby hasn't grown or I have an empty sac and it's ml it to be. I'm 41 so more likelt to miscarry anyway.

Anyone any experience of this on tests? If it's not to be I'll try again asap but the waiting is terrible and feel very downright after initial excitement!

Crispie you need to stop using hpt. They don't measure levels of hormones accurately and it's literally the amount of dye in each test that determines the depth of colour.
The clearblue ones are notorious for giving odd readings.
Please go and see your gp for blood tests, don't rely on how dark the hpt are Thanks

Thank you. I keep telling myself to stop testing and then thinking maybe the next one will put my mind at rest.

Would the doctor do a blood test or just refer for normal scan at 12 weeks. I've been delaying telling the doctor which is silly as it won't make any difference to the outcome!

Do you have an early pregnancy centre? They are usually see you based on a self referral.

I saw mine during my last pregnancy as I phoned due to some light bleeding. They were lovely and scanned me for "reassurance".

In the end the first scan was inconclusive & I had to go back a week later. It turned out it was bad news but I had driven myself crazy and spent a fortune in the run up to that scan buying Clearblue digitals to see if the number changed. I am now pregnant again and have promised myself I will not use them this time as I think they cause us to worry more than necessary. If you google them there are pages of stories of people who got 1-2 weeks as you have and went onto have successful pregnancies.

Good luck & I hope things work out for you x

Thanks I think the gp has to refer me here. I might go this week just to get in the system. I don't have a great feeling about it as very different to previous pregnancy.fingers crossed!!

Ask the GP if they'll do hcg tests. They do them 48h apart, your level should double in the 48h.
Just chuck out all the tests you have and don't buy any others. They make you crazy. There are a million reasons you could be experiencing this pregnancy different to previously, from your state of mind to the amount of exercise you do to what you're eating to your hormones. I know it's hard but until you know something is wrong please PLEASE try to enjoy yourself.

Thank you so much Charlie these tests should be banned after your first positive! I thought they would reassure me like last time but they are just a stressfest. The compulsion to Google is bad too esp as Boone can say what might happen in my case and every situation and symptoms have positive and negative outcome examples!!!

My DH won't let me test after a positive. He just said to me "what, are you going to keep testing until you get a result you DON'T want?"

I know Charlie! We do then to reassure ourselves and create a ton of worry. Still u feel like I'd rather be prepared! There are many articles online with doctors suggesting these clear blue tests can be used to orediuct miscarriage! At 8 quid a test companies are making *£££££££££

I'm going to see the doc this week. I'd be better with a private scan than all these pregnancy tests!!!

Just wondering how you are getting on Crispie? Any luck seeing your doctor?

Thank you for asking. I'd been good at not testing at all but ended up doing two yestaerday. One said 1-2 and one said 2-3 weeks so not very hopeful at all. Couldnt get a go appointment till Tuesday so that is booked but I decided to get a private scan this weekend as a decent place is doing am early scan for 39 pounds. I should be 7 weeks by then so am guessing I will know for sure by Sunday. Time is really dragging though was quite distracted by the referendum these last two days!

Sorry to hear that, will be thinking of you at the weekend.

I will hope for the best for you although I know for me personally, I hated it when my DH kept saying stay positive. I just wanted to prepare myself for the worst & be pleasantly surprised if all was well than stay positive then be devastated on the day. I hope that makes sense, I was always going to be upset but was trying to protect myself I suppose?

Good luck Thanks

Exactly how I feel!!!! There is that hope that creeps in but I'm prepared for worst. DH saying look at positives in that at 41 I got abfpin first month trying so nothing to think I won't again. I'm lucky that I had an easy pregnancy last year so I'm focusing on the wee one who is here!! Would dearly love another and time is not on my side!!! Xxx

Thank you so much pinot!

Well I had a scan at the EPU first thing and sadly it looks like clear blue knows what it is talking about. I had a small bleed three weeks after my last period which I took to be implantation but she thinks this was in fact an early miscarriage. My hormone levels are still elevated but the test she took was a very faint positive and she is expecting bloods to go back to normal in next 24 hours. Not sure why still positive four weeks on but she said it can take longer in some people for the hormone levels to drop.

I am a bit gutted but on the plus side there was nothing to see on the internal or ultra sound and so I have already miscarried whatever was there. At least I am not going to have any heavy bleeding. She also said to be positive about my age given easy pregnancy last year and that fertility can be high right after pregnancy so to try again asap.

I felt a bit of a fool that there was nothing to see to be honest but I am so glad I know for sure what is happening. It seemed too good to be true it happened first month of trying.

I may have a pinot grigio tonight!!

Hopefully I will be back soon with good news.

xx

Sorry to hear that Crispie but a least a lot of what she said was positive.

Fingers crossed for good news soon.
