Dear ladies, I don´t have my appointment until mid october so was hoping to get some answers before then. Me and my husband both had genetic testing. Mine came back ok but my husband has an extra X on his 47th cell- so 47 XXY. I have read this could be Klinefelter syndrome, but if this is the case, could this add to the cause of our miscarriages? I have PCOS and hypothroidism and have just had my insulin intollerance test done which I am waiting the results back on. If anyone could let me know of their experience I would be very grateful as I can´t find any information how this could cause miscarriage.

escorpion I've not replied until now as I don't know enough about kleinfelter's to help, but wanted to pass on sympathies to you both. It must have been a bit of a shock to get an abnormal karyotyping. I hope you can speak to a genetic counsellor v soon about any implications. Flowers

Thank you bakingtins. We don´t have our appointment til mid october but hoping we get some answers. I think it is a mild form as the XXY is present in only two of the 23 pairs, so I am hoping it doesn´t mean too much. It´s one thing after another and this process is just so long. Thanks for responding Thanks

Hi escorpion. This is an old thread but just spotted it. Your husband could be a mosaic XXY so it only affects certain cells. Most with full 47 XXY are infertile so unless you had assistance, it's unlikely you could get pregnant. Klinefelter Syndrome applies to only some people with XXY - it's the name of a collection of symptoms such as low muscle tone, breast development etc. Some guys don't have any idea they have it until they try for a baby. KS is a wide spectrum of disorders so your husband may or may not be affected by all or none of the symptoms. For more info contact the KSA www.ksa-uk.net/
