Hi all

I had a termination last week at 20 weeks for spina bifida.

I have been taking folic acid every day since January now and since the termination have taken 5mg.

My husband and I would like to try again as soon as possible. I've read varying things about taking folic acid for one month to 3 months before conception.

I've been taking the normal dose since January so obviously have some build up but since your body does not store it for more than 24 hours hence why you need to take it every day, do we really need to wait any amount of time or can we go ahead and try again after my first normal period

worried i'm so sorry for all you've been through. I think this is a question you need to ask your doctor, as it's unlikely there is someone here who has been in your specific situation. Do you have a number to contact someone? I'm sure they must have some procedure for a debrief and answering those sort of questions. flowers

I'm in the same boat. Sorry for your loss. We had a tfmr at 21 weeks and are trying to come to terms with it. I think that you can start after 3 periods as that's what we were advised to do. I am on 5mg too and have taken it daily since the termination 3 months ago.
Wishing you the best of luck x
