Mmc - no gush of blood?

Hello, I have posted other threads and people have been so kind and shared their experience with mmc. I had a scan on Saturday (11weeks) but baby stopped growing at 5-6 weeks. I've had 4 days of light bleeding but tonight more bleeding, brown stringy bits (sorry for tmi) and strong cramps. Been on the loo for over an hour and that's all that's happened. Is the worst still to come or is it possible I won't have the gush of blood/clots?

Hi so sorry to hear your awful news, did the hospital give advice of what to expect?

I am myself both a nurse and someone who had been through this and it sounds like there is still more to come, sounds unlikely the miscarriage is complete at this stage.

Not much you can do though at the moment might be worth ringing the hospital/unit tomorrow and check with them, they all seem to have different thresholds, some are happy with it taking up to 2 weeks, this sadly was my case .

Hope you are ok and have someone with you.

Thank you. My husband is with me and has been brilliant. I suspected there's more to come. Just scared to move off the loo in case it happens but know I can't just stay here for the next 2 weeks potentially :-( guess I was hoping that was it

Honestly you can step away from the loo you will know when you need to go, your body is clever like that.

It's a real tough thing to get through not so much the physical side but after the miscarriage. The miscarriage association website is worth a look at a later date if you feel you need to, I found it a great comfort :/

Be kind to yourself. Glad hubbie is on hand it's essential.

Ive had a look at the miscarriage association website and found it helpful. I'm in bed now with 3 towels and a hot water bottle! Hubby has been great, even though he said he feels useless. I tried to tell him I couldn't do this without him but I can understand how he feels. Gonna try and get some sleep in case I'm up in the night. Thank you for your help x

Hi, so sorry for your loss. I had a mmc about 6 weeks ago - should have been 10 weeks but measured 6.5. I didn't have a rush of blood like I'd read. Only like you've described, and it dragged on for almost two weeks. I passed what I think was the placenta about ten days after first bleeding, about 3 inches of thin thing and was exhausted after that - then it tailed off. I like you was scared to leave house! Best to take two weeks off normal life anyway, and don't go out til you need to. Sending love, it's horrible and not easy to talk about in real life.

I saw my baby at 5 weeks & 10 weeks - waving and kicking at 10 - all action, but at 12 weeks they told me the heart stopped at 8 weeks. I know it didn't stop at 8 wks, but there was def no heartbeat at 12+4

I had some pain and cramps, but only ever spotting, brown string as you describe. It didn't happen naturally for me and I had an ERPC - I would have been in the funny farm without it - 4 days of waiting for it drove me up the wall.

If ur struggling, ask the hospital for help - you don't have to hang around waiting for a gush, your mental health is so important. I went to bed with several pairs of pants on and a massive maternity pad in, frightened to death, but nothing happened. I wouldn't wish this on anyone. It's good that your OH is there for you - I hope if it happens naturally, it happens soon for you, if that's what you want - but otherwise, please speak to the dr or hospital. You're not alone :-)

You've all been so kind and supportive, I don't think I would have got through this without you all, my family and hubby. Still don't know if it's over (the worst of it anyway). Tues night I had really strong period like contraction pains, didn't sleep at all. Finally got up at 5.30am and passed a large clot about 2-3" long. Had already passed some clots earlier that day. After that the pain eased off and I slept until 10am. Yesterday afternoon had bad pains again, but not as bad as tues night, and passed some more clots. Today, not much pain, just mild period pain and normal period style bleeding. I hope the main part is over. Got a scan on Monday to see if everything's passed :-( if not have to have tablets/op to clear everything. Thank you all for helping me get through this
