Scared....Ive just taken the tablets....

Despite thinking I'd miscarried last week with the abdominal pains, excess blood and large clots it seems that my wee baby is still present together with the sac. So after two weeks of allowing things to run naturally I've just taken the tablets at home. I'm scared as I thought last week was bad enough and have been warned of this pain. I hope its ok to ask this question on here too but I was so anxious before I put the tablets in that it was really hard cause my body tensed up. How far do they have to go? I think I've managed as much as I can on my own but now worried that they might not be in the right place etc etc. Does anyone know about this? I am so going to need you ladies today so hoping some of you are around. TRying to tell myself that others have walked this painful path so I can do it but I'm so scared right now.

I'm so sorry, I haven't had medical management but offering a hand to hold, there is a thread on here with other peoples experiences which might help you feel more prepared and less scared.

Luisa, I haven't either.

Do you have someone with you today irl? And were you given painkillers?

You will get through this. Sending love & hugs xxx

Thanks everyone. Still waiting. They say it takes 2-4 hours for the medication to kick in. My husband has taken today and tomorrow off to be alongside me. xx

I've done medical management at home, Luisa. I was told to put the tablets in with a tampon, that holds them up against your cervix whilst they dissolve. The cramps were pretty painful so make sure you have stocked up on painkillers. If it feels unmanageable phone the hospital, I was told afterwards I should have gone in if I was finding it difficult and could have had stronger painkillers or gas and air if I needed it. IME it was about 4 hours after inserting the pessaries that contractions started.
Here to hand-hold as necessary.

ive had both. natural and medical management and would say they were both pretty much the same. only with the meds its a bit quicker. def recommend pain killers, can get a bit full on. like a painful period. lots of cramping. take paracetamol and ibuprofen. they work well together. get ur pjs on and a blanket and try to be as comfy as poss. here to hand hold Sad

thanks all of you. I haven't started yet. I wish id been told bout the tampons but I wasn't. Ive just phoned EPU but had to leave a message as its nearly four hours and one tablet seems to have come out. I don't know whether I should try and insert again or just leave. The bleeding has just started.

EPU said just to wait and see. May still happen with 3 tablets instead of 4. If I haven't started proper by lunchtime tomorrow they say I need to go in to see them again. So hoping happens soon. The waiting is awful. Just want this over. Have a waterbottle and am in pjs ready. ugh.....

How are you doing? I did MM and found it quite painful as due to sickness was having trouble keeping pain killers down.

I did find though that once the main part was over the pain stopped instantly for me but was the exhausted for a day or so. Really hope things are going well for you xx

Hello, I had a mm mc 3 weeks ago. It was pretty painful, but thankfully it was fairly quick. I was told not to take ibuprofen but I also was too sick to keep down painkillers! I am so sorry you are going through this, I know how scary it is, but it will get easier day by day. Take time to grieve and recover. If you need a shoulder just shout. Thinking of you.

Hope your doing as well as you can be. I had a mmc a few years ago and had medical management and took 8 hours to pass sac - which was awful. Really hope that your at home in bed now and your taking it easy.

Hello just switched this on and was overwhelmed by how many kind messages on here. I have no idea why but I'm still not responding to the four tablets that were supposed to soften my cervix to kick start the active part of my miscarriage. Still achy, bloated, light period type bleeding but no proper contractions yet. Have no idea what going on? It is like my body is resisting this. Has been nearly 24 hours! The EPU said to phone at lunchtime if still hadn't started and to go in and they will start me off with the tablets again. Maybe I didn't put them in right? All I know is that I want this over!!! Anticipating the pain etc is harsh. The positive is that I slept quite a lot overnight (due to the painkillers prob) so hoping this gives me energy to persevere today. I'm glad a couple of you ladies described sickness as I was wondering why I was having waves of nausea - could be the co-drydamol or Ibruprofin I guess? I'm alternating but trying to hold off as long as poss so that I have my full quota for the worst part. I think it will be good to go back to the EPU but I'm hoping they let me home to have another go as I really don't want to be in hospital. A very stressful environment for me. Hubbie being fab. Even gave me a hand massage to calm me down! My cat just stepped on my stomach and it is so so sore it hurt. Think of me today. Lets hope by the evening I will have a different story to share. Thanks so much for sticking in there with me. All the best to all of you who have been or are going through such a horrendous painful process. Reinforces again what an amazing species we are - us women.
