Miscarriage/pregnancy loss

When did AF return?

barkingtreefrog · 28/09/2013 07:38

I am impatiently waiting for AF to arrive so I can start taking clomid again and return to ttc. I don't think the pain will go away or lessen considerably at least, (especially with our closest friends at the same stage of pg as we would have been), until I can get pg again. It finally happened for us on the clomid so hopefully it can happen again. But how long might I be waiting before I can take it? I realise it's different for everyone but a straw poll would be helpful!

Hi barking,

I'm also interested in this info so thought I would keep track of your replies..

Have you had a BFN yet? I haven't tested yet as I don't think it will be N just quite yet, still spotting light brown. Started to spot two weeks ago, had medical management one week ago so am hoping the BFN won't be too long now. Have you decided to start trying now? Im not sure, mainly cuz I feel like I need a bit of time to focus on other stuff?

Sorry for your loss, this was my first MC trying for no1, i wouldnt have thought i would take it this bad but had never really thought about the extent of the loss before.

Take care xx

Sorry to read about your friend there ( sorry for you not her obviously). I have two colleagues who announced the week that I was hoping to, struggled with the info, smiled and kinda rushed off.

That will be hard with your close friend I expect and I can't really think how to deal with it? I think I would end up avoiding her for a couple of weeks until I felt strong enough to smile along...probably not great advice but sometimes you have to just protect your own feelings.

X

I had my second mc on 19th august. I was 7+2 but early scan showed a blighted ovum. I miscarried naturally a few days after the scan. I've just had my first AF. Started on day 37.

Thanks poppy I'm currently day 23 counting from first day of mc bleeding. Was hoping for AF next weekend but think I might be later than that.

chosen I have a pg colleague who announced a few weeks ago, just before I had my mc. It sucks!

My cycles are about 31 days usually anyway so it was only a little longer than usual. Hopefully you'll get yours soon too so you can get back to ttc. Good luck xx

I mmc at 16 weeks AF came back after 9 week !! Hmm

AF returned exactly 28 days after I passed the sac. Mc was at 6 wks though. Took nearly 11 wks for AF to return after stillbirth, so I think it must depend a bit how far into pg you get for your hormones to settle again.

I had a premature baby in March, I bled for 4 weeks and then my period started two weeks after that, I miscarried in June also bled for a month and my period came two weeks later too. I only have a cycle of 21 days so I wonder if that's anything to do with it xxx everyone is different though

Thanks for all the replies. I had a bfn last week so I know my body is in 'reset mode'. I was only 7 weeks when I mc so my body shouldn't have to work as hard to get back into routine, so to speak. I've started temping again (hard to get out of the routine) so hopefully I'll ovulate and that will let me know AF will be on the way.

Hi Barking,

I'm so sorry for your loss xx like you I conceived on Clomid but then had a mmc. I was told that there was no heartbeat at my 12 week scan. I was eager to to start taking the Clomid and was anxiously waiting for AF to return. For me AF returned exactly 28 days after the date I had the ERPC. It was just like a normal cycle for me but I know it's different for everyone. Hope this helps and that the Clomid works for you a second time xxx

Hi honey, if you don't mind me asking, did the clomid work for you a second time?

Hi, so sorry for late reply. Have not been feeling so good. I took Clomid as soon as AF returned and have conceived on on the fourth cycle. I'm now 11+4 weeks and and absolutely frightened to go for my 12 week scan next week! Don't give up, Clomid worked twice for me after ttc for over 4years. It will work for you to xx fingers crossed and sending you love xx

Congratulations! I love a happy ending Grin . I'm feeling positive about the clomid working again, just hoping it works by April! (would have been my due date).

So sorry to read of your loss. Sad

I had a MMc at 10 weeks in June and had an ERPC. I didn't ovulate until CD67 after my ERPC and got my AF 11 days after that. I had a number of scans over those 67 days and it showed that my body had tried to ovulate twice (once from each ovary which had then turned into functional cysts when the ovulation failed - adding insult to injury!!) . I had several LH surges prior to each attempt but for some reason my body couldn't quite finish the job! I was temping and so confirmed ovulation. I am now on cycle two and I ovulated on day 33, again I have had a number of surges and finally managed it and had a nice temperature rise. I am 10 DPO now and start IVF when I get my AF (assuming no miracle BFP arrives in the next few days Smile

Before my naturally conceived pregnancy(just before I was due to start IVF!) I ovulated very regularly with a luteal phase of 14 days but the pregnancy really messed up my body for a while. I understand it is immensely frustrating when you are desperate to get going again but it may take a while. My advice would be to look after yourself health wise, keep temping so you can see when you ovulate and keep using cheap OPKs because when you get the surge you can get going - it might just be the one surge that delivers!

Good luck. I know how difficult it is. Flowers

Thanks greenlizard. I started temping again and there has been no sign of Ov through temp rise or +opk yet. On day 34 now. I hate the waiting!

I'm now cd49 and still waiting.... Is it too early to see if my gp would do anything to help bring it on? The nurse at epu said 4-6 weeks and it's now 7. Definitely not ovulated so can't possibly be pg.

Or would I be better calling the fertility clinic?

It's now 11 weeks approx 77 days) since my ERPC following a missed miscarriage. Mentally I'm doing well and physically I've been fit as a flea but I'm not pregnant again (took test this morning and one about a month ago) and so far no sign of AF. Has anyone else had to wait this long?! Abdominal pain this morning so I'm hoping it's AF returning...

I'm on 8 weeks now and still nothing. Went to the gp who referred me back to the fertility clinic and they've given me Provera to bring on AF so I can start the Clomid again. Fingers crossed it works! Both drugs!

Thanks Tree Frog. They kept saying "if your period hasn't returned in x weeks, come back to us..." but I'm making an appointment today because this is just getting daft. I had what felt like bad period pain yesterday, really quite unpleasant, and still nothing Confused

Barking fingers crossed the drugs work for you. I am CD50 after my ERPC and no real signs of AF. I did have some EWCM 4 days ago and (coincidentally) DTD 4 days prior. So I am now trying to convince myself I might be pg!! Realistically I was thinking of going to see the GP next week as it will be 8 weeks on Wednesday. Suspect I will get the same answer as gecko. There is a new woman GP at the practice who I have not seen so might ask to see her. So frustrating waiting....

Hope the docs help both of you. My gp tried to tell me I should take a bit more time out before trying again anyway as I'd already been pregnant this year and it would be a strain on my body to get pregnant again straight away. I felt like pointing out the strain on my mental health after trying for two years to get pregnant in the first place!! And I've already waited 2 months for AF, never mind to start trying again!!
I think because I was already under the fertility clinic she didn't want to do anything (she admitted herself she 'wasn't exactly an expert in this area') apart from just sending me back there.
