5 weeks post 2nd MC and bfp this morning - nervous and looking for advice....

A bit of history DS was born in 2007 with XH (no issues 1st attempt but late emergency C section).

Having put off the conversation with OH for 2 yrs (to early, slipped disc resulting in major surgery, promotion @ work) . Last Oct we talked over several glasses of wine and turned out he was keen and since I was turing 38 this Jan I was keen to get started.

Since Nov we have had 2 MC (4+5 - ended on 31 Dec - Happy New Year!, 5+5 ended 11 Mar). I got the all clear from epu and confirmed negative test after 1 week (hCG was only 18 when tested at epu)

Having not tried this month - hospital visit for wisdom teeth extraction put me off - I was getting v light spotting but no af - so I cracked this morning as 6 days late and it came up positive.!

I am hoping for some friendly advice on what I should do now as I am really nervous about this as terrified of MC no3. OH says no more tests for a week, no booking appointments with GP and I should forget about it! But I don't know if I should go and ask about aspirin / progesterone (too much Googling is a dangerous thing!)

Any advice for a newbie much appreciated!

Hi Lina congrats on the surprise BFP. I'm currently having recurrent MC testing and we've decided not to stop trying meantime in view of my age. The consultant's advice should we get a BFP before results are through would be to try the empirical treatments of 75mg aspirin, high dose (4mg) folic acid, progesterone and fortnightly scans. I think that also applies if nothing is found on the tests. The difficulty in your case might be getting hold of the treatments quickly (apart from aspirin) without access to a specialist, but I think it's worth asking. If nothing else you get the pregnancy officially on their system. I really hope this is tird time lucky for you.

baking thank you - I have decided to do a cb digital on Friday and if that is still positive I'll try and see the GP who saw me after the last 2 bfp's to get me in the system.

Congratulations! I'm currently 24 weeks pregnant with a pregnancy that came about after 2 missed miscarriages in a row (both went to 11 weeks - I've been pregnant for such a long time now!). I didn't go to my booking apt til the week beforemy 12 week scan for this one as I was so fed up of answering the same bloody questions and nodding politely when told not to eat prawns etc. all the while thinking it was pointless. I did get an early scan at 8 weeks because I was determined to have the embryo tested via ERPC if it had died again. I'm not a believer in early scans on the whole - not much to gain I reckon. Take the 5mg folic acid and aspirin 75mg I say - no risks and lots to gain. You need a prescription for the 5mg so just take a handful of smaller tablets til you can get it. Good luck and positive thinking!

clabsyqueen sad news about your losses but fab news you're now at 24 weeks - your story gives me hope! I am so up and down with moods and constantly checking to see if my boobs are still sore to make sure I am still prgnant (I knew on the last loss it was complete before epu as they'd stopped).
I popped a couple more folic acid tabs than I normally would today - thank you Smile and will try getting a GP appointment tomorrow - but will have to fight the emergency surgery line until I get through Angry
