Another MC?

I would appreciate some advice or opinion on my latest nightmare.
Have gorgeous 6 yr old twin DS's.
MC at 8 wks on Nov 8th. :(
Had blood test for another reason in early Dec and asked for HCG levels to be checked to confirm all back to normal. Dr confirmed this was the case.
1st period after MC early Dec, usual cycle prior to last PG meant next period due Saturday just gone.
As I was going on a big night out om Friday and had very sore, solid boobs decided to do a test a day early to avoid drinking if I shouldn't be. Very excited to get a BFP.
Yesterday (Sunday) had period pains when I woke up followed quickly by bleeding which has got heavier and heavier since then. :(
I suppose my question is whilst I know what to expect from a MC at 8 weeks, Im not sure what to expect from one at 4weeks. So far I have only passed blood, unlike last time. Is that because I have not miscarried or just because it is so much earlier this time?
I bled heavily twice during my twin PG so know this can happen and everything can be fine, however after my MC I am finding it hard to think positive.

Hi dunkin. I'm sorry you are going through this A miscarriage at that stage will be more like a period - there won't have been time for a very thick lining, placenta etc to develop so I doubt you'll see tissue or a sac.
Have you tried testing again to see if it's still positive? Might be a way of knowing which way things are going. I'd also inform your GP in the next few days so it is marked on your records, even if you don't feel you need to go to EPU.
I've bled in all 4 pregnancies - currently running at a 50% success rate, but even knowing it can be ok I can completely relate to your pessimism. It's the worst feeling in the world seeing that blood.

I have been to the Dr and am booked in for a blood test Friday morning to see what my HCG levels are doing.
Stupidly I am holding out hope that this is the same as when I had my lovely boys but if I am honest with myself I know what the outcome will be.
Dr said they will not investigate until this happens to us 3 times, which I knew but he wasn't very helpful in explaining what they would then start to look at as a possible cause. He just kept saying its unlikely to be my age (33) and wouldn't commit to whether or not it could be the anti-d's I take. I have got myself down to 1 everyother day but was assured by another Dr before TTC that they would not be a problem. He has told me now would not be a good time to decrease my dosage further but I feel like maybe I should before we try again.
Can anyone shed any light on the investigations that may happen if we end up here again?

Hello dunkinhobnobs I'm so sorry to hear you are going through this difficult time. I'm afraid I can't help on the investigations front but just wanted to 'make contact' as your situation is quite similar to mine.

I have a 6 year old DD (I'm 36) and unfortunately miscarried at 7 weeks at the end of April. On Sunday 30th Dec I tested early and got a very much longed for BFP but started bleeding approx 48 hours later (the day my period was due). Initially I was hoping the pregnancy would still 'stick' but it wasn't to be.

This period was unusual in that it was lighter than I expected and I didn't pass any clots or womb lining like I usually do. In fact it was pretty much pure bright red 'fresh' blood. I thought this was strange but after a bit of research on the web, I found out that it isn't unusual for some women to have a lighter than normal bleed after a chemical pregnancy.

I doubt your medication has had any impact upon things but I know what it is like to desperately search your mind for a reason why your pregnancy hasn't progressed. I'm trying to stay positive and tell myself I'm just a victim of statistics (an awful lot of pregnancies do fail early on) but it is hard not start worrying that I can get pregnant but I can't hold onto them...

I am going to make a doctor's appt but really just to get the cp on record..

Thanks for your reply and I am so sorry you are also suffering this nightmare.
My bleeding was completely the opposite in that it was far heavier than a usual period altho very bright blood as you say. I did also pass some 'bits' but not nearly as many or large as the previous miscarriage. Bleeding seems to have stopped today for the most part so I have had 3 days of heavy bleeding then nothing. Having never done this so early on I assume this may also just be 'normal'.
I think you are doing the right thing by going to the Drs.

Hi dunkin, sorry that you are going through this. The Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists has a guidance document called "The investigation and treatment of couples with recurrent first-trimester and second-trimester miscarriage" which has information about all the tests and treatment options.

I was referred after 2 mcs, which meant that they wouldn't test the baby's chromosomes or do the genetic tests on dh and I but they did several blood tests, a smear test, and a detailed scan. they didn't find anything helpful. they will only do the expensive tests after the third mc.

Well I caved and did a pg test before my blood test this morning. BFN :( so thats confirmed it.
Just have to keep my fingers crossed for 3rd time lucky.
