How long does the bleeding last?

I found out on Saturday I was pg, would have been 4 weeks. Sunday night started getting some dark brown spotting, wasn't too concerned. It carried on Monday and during the night Monday it had turned to heavy bright red blood. Went to the gps on tuesday, said it sounds like a miscarriage (which I assumed anyway) and to let things take its course.

The bleeding got lighter yesterday then heavier again and still bleeding today. Not massive amounts but I just wondered if there is a normal amount of time to bleed for? This is my first miscarriage so not too sure what to expect.

Have had no pain, apart from a few very mild cramps on Tuesday but have been take paracetemol every 4 hours for a tooth ache I've had so not sure if that would have hidden any pain I would have been feeling.

Sorry that was quite long.

Poor you. This sounds fairly normal to me. Look after yourself. I would go back to GP if you are concerned at all. Sending hugs.

Thanks Wolfiefan. Am not too concerned at the moment, was more just wondering how long I should expect the bleeding to last. Thanks for the hugs.

Sorry about your miscarriage.

At only 4 weeks or so, I would expect that you would have a little bit more bleeding than a period, but not a massive amount more, so probably about 5 days or so of actual bleeding and then tailing off to a bit of spotting for a few days.

Thanks for that KatAndKit, to be honest it feels pretty much like a period but perhaps a bit heavier. It wasn't something I thought to ask the doctor and am sure it varies from woman to woman but just wondered what the 'norm' was, Thanks again Smile
