I have been miscarrying for the last week. The blood loss last friday was horrific and have been having a heavy period like bleed since but really thought that everything had come away really last friday (i was 10 1/2 weeks). Then last night i suddenly felt as if i was passing something big so i made my way to the bathroom and out came what must have been the baby i think about the size of a tangerine with what looked like the cord attached. The thing is and here comes the TMI it was really smelly. So now I am worried in case I have an infection. Can anyone help?

Get to A&E. The reason I say this is because you are at a higher risk of having an infection since this has been going on so long.

I am really sorry for your loss. Please get yourself checked out.

I'm very sorry for you loss too.

I completely agree with banana87 you should go to A 6 E . The risks of an untreated infection far outweigh any other argument for not going. A simple course of antibiotics will clear it up too, but you must get them immediately if you really do have an infection.

Other signs of infection are:

fever
chills
pain
(and smelly discharge)

but even if you have only ONE sign, you must go and get seen straight away, dont wait to see your GP, go to A & E, your nearest EPU or maternity ward.

If you need more convincing, phone NHS Direct/24 and they will tell you the same.

Sorry once again you have to go through this, its truly awful. xxx

thanks for the advice, i went to a and e. They were lovely. They did blood tests and thankfully there is no infection. The smell they said will be because the baby was detached inside for several days. a horrible thought Hx

So so sorry benandoli. How far along were you, if you don't mind me asking.

So glad you got seen too, and I hope the blood tests have given you a little more reassurance that you are recovering well.

Give yourself a lot of extra pampering, as the pregnancy hormones leave your body you will probably feel rough (sorry) Are you getting good support in RL?

hugs xxx

So sorry that you are going through this but am glad you haven't got an infection. I had a MC which started a month ago (I was 12 weeks but baby had died between 8-10).

Be kind to yourself. x
