I'm panicking and don't know what's happening.

I had my 4th m/c 5 weeks ago and my hospital finally took bloods and the embryo for testing and I have an appointment on 14th Dec.

My husband and I haven't been using contraception, and 5 minutes ago I had a BFP. But is it a real one? or are the hormones still there from my previous pregnancy. Is there another kind of test that a doc can do to confirm it?
I'd decided if i did get pregnant again i would take aspirin from the start but should I start taking it? What if i'm not pregnant? what if I am?? I feel like I might have done something stupid by getting pregnant (maybe) before my test results but I'm sick and tired of waiting - especially when its on other peoples (doctors, Consultants etc) terms.

I'm so worried and the answer is probably just to wait and see what happens but I'm freaking out. Sorry

Why did you test? Do you feel pregnant? Your doctor can do bloods to see if the HcG is rising or reducing. How far were you when you had you last mc?

How awful for you xx

I'm sorry for the loss of your babies.

It is possible for HCG still to be in your urine 5 weeks after a miscarriage. But it largely depends on how far along you were when the pregnancy ended. The closer to 12 weeks you were, the higher the level of HCG and the longer it would take to leave your system. (When I miscarried at 12 weeks it took about 35 days to get a negative on a HPT.) If however you miscarried at around 6 weeks, it is highly likely that you would not have any HCG still in your system from that pregnancy and therefore your positive test would suggest a new pregnancy.

I hope it all works out for you. I don't know if this is helpful to know, but I also had 4 mc and I still managed to produce 3 children in the end.

Thank you Wobblewatcher and neolara,

My erpc was at 8wks but the baby measured 5wks, so I guess maybe I really am.

I don't think I feel pregnant but I haven't with any of these pregnancies but I did with my two boys I had before all the m/cs. To be honest I don't really trust my body any more.

I would think it's a new pregnancy but hard to say. You poor thing. I've had 2 and that's bad enough. I'm having some reflexology and that is helping me trust my body again.

See your GP for blood testing. Keep us updated too xxx

Did you have a period or BFN after your ERPC? It can take up to 6 weeks for your body to go back to normal after ERPC...how long have you not been bleeding post m/c for??

Just got back from the Docs and she tested my urine and reckons I am pregnant. I am shaking so much as I type this. After this last M/c I felt really angry and defiant and quite strong - I thought If I got pregnant again I could handle it but I'm petrified.

At least my doc is going to get in touch with my consultant and ask about the aspirin.

I havrn't even told my husband yet.

Congratulations. After my last bfp (after 4 mc), like you, I was shaking. She is now 13 months and upstairs having her afternoon nap.

Best of luck.

Congratulations!!

But, please dont take aspirin without cons say so, it can be dangerous if not needed!

When did hospital take blood tests, they generally take two weeks to come back so you may hav a chance to get the first results. They are usually repeated 6 weeks later to give a more accurate result.

When I had testing after 5mc's I got pregnant before having second lot done and they medication me basd on first results with fragmin and aspirin and DS2 is 3 now!

Fingers crossed for you x

Thank you everyone!

Doc called with most of my results and they were all neg. Which is good in as much as there is no medical reason why I shouldn't have got pregnant now. Consultant ok'ed aspirin so I guess its just a question of waiting now...

Neolara, I love hearing stories like yours - it makes me feel more positive :)

Waiting for hubby to come home now, hopefully he'll make me feel more excited and less worried!

Thanks again, don't know what I'd do without other women who've been through all this xxx
