Miscarriage/pregnancy loss

Natural miscarriage - pain worse but bleeding stopped - what's going on??

Hope someone can help. Am on about day 5 of the bleeding for a natural miscarriage, which stopped developing around 7 weeks.
I've been bleeding heavily, pain on and off, and having quite a lot of blood clots.
Today the pain seems worse, is very low down, but the bleeding has all but stopped since this morning.
I thought the pain was maybe a sign that I was about to pass the pregnancy sac, but can't understand why the bleeding would stop.
Does anyone get pain at the end of a miscarriage, or is this a sign that something is going wrong?
Thank you.

Hi, so sorry for what you are going through. Its not very nice is it.

I too am currently bleeding having lost my baby at 11.5 weeks. (baby stopped developing early but sack continued to grow) I have been bleeding naturally since last thursday (light) followed by severe blood loss (pouring) for 7 hours which included passing very large clots/sack etc.. only cramping that paracetamol/hot baths and hot water bottle soothed. My bleeding came and went for a couple of days before the severe blood loss... i did get a lot of pressure low down in my tummy before it all started. I havent had pain at the end, but am still cramping ish, and still bleeding lightly. Im no expert i can only go off this last week, but if your clots are small maybe you have more to come ?

What for me seemed to kick start the severe loss/cramping/sack etc was having a hot bath (rightly or wrongly!)

I hope it doesnt get any worse for you... what do the EPAU say?

Thanks for that, and sorry too for your loss.
I haven't called the EPU (they know about the miscarriage though, had scans etc) as I think they might ask me to go in for a scan which I don't fancy at all just yet.
When I miscarried before it was a bit earlier and over more quickly and there was no noticeable sac. Just worried in case it's incomplete and I end up having EPRC after all this.
If you are still in pain I would suggest asking for some of the lovely codeine I was given! Only downside is you will fall asleep, so only good at night really.

(TMI warning) Did phone epu after all - just said I might have finished, might not etc.
But (am shaking while I write this) I was just squatting a few minutes ago in front of the laptop to check for messages and felt the sac coming out.
So that's that, I suppose.

Im so sorry..............

its heartbreaking.

Doesnt help me saying this but at least you have passed it - however hideous it feels.... and you hopefully you wont have to worry about any further complications...?

I hope you are ok

I just got confirmation that mine is complete.... closure for me a little, feel that i can move on now... and maybe ready to try again...

Thank you, it's nice to be able to talk on here, can't think of anyone in RL I could say this stuff to!
I know what you mean about closure, it is better to have nothing inside than something that his died Sad
Hope you have better luck in the future nickster. Smile

Mine wasnt so hideous as some as the baby had not formed properly passed cells anyway,so the sack was empty even though i was so far along (still my baby tho to me) but somehow makes it easier than thinking it died inside...

that one wasnt meant to be..... but heres hoping to a more positive next time :)

onwards and upwards!!!!

Im so sorry for what you are having to go through, I lost a baby last oct 09 at 5 weeks. My bleeding was on and off
for 16 days with Mild pains but the last day I was on the floor huddled up in pain as I finally passed the prgnancy :(

I then found out I was pregnant in may this year but sadly I was told at 14 weeks that I had a molar pregnancy! Its been six weeks since I found out that my pregnancy had to end and Im still not ready to deal with it, the doctor's have put me on ani-depressents to help with my mood swings and constant crying. Im very lucky that I have three little girls which keep me busy, But Im hoping to start trying again next year. I hope you can move on after your loss and look to the future. xx
