Feeling so Awful

Hi all.
Just want to whinge about my symptoms really. I assume it's menopausal. Just wondering if anyone feels the same or if there is something else wrongConfused
I'm 50, have a mirena coil (for heavy bleeding)
I am so bloody hot, as the time. Work is dreadful as the uniform makes me so hot and sweaty.

I am sooooo tired and reckon I could sleep all day and night.

But, sometimes wake up at 4am and can't go back to sleep.....

Everything hurts, my legs feel like ton weights and moving is such an effort.

I am sat in bed now on my day off willing myself to get up as I have lots to do.

Can't have HRT (I don't think) due to breast cancer in family and I've previously had thrombosis.

Am I normal??GrinHmm

Yes I feel the same with the addition of headaches.
Depressing isn't it. Often find myself wondering if there is something wrong 😕

I thrash around in bed, kicking the duvet off my legs, pulling it back over me. This morning, don't know what time but it was dark, I was in that place between sleep and waking up. When the alarm clock went off I felt meh.

Even one of the Doctors in work commented, in a nice way, on the state of me and he is not one to say anything. I know I didn't have mascara on because of sore eyes after chopping an onion yesterday but I must have looked haggard.

I've not got headaches but yes to sweaty, itchy crotchBlush
At work yesterday (13 hr shift) I just couldn't be asked. I just wanted to curl up and sleep
Today I only started to feel half human at about 4pm and then got all hot again when I hoovered!

I sympathise Lavender.
I always thought this heat would come over me in flashes but no it's in the form of sweating at the least exertion.
Summer has been terrible. I've had to wear dark clothing to disguise the sweat marks and it has made me miserable. Confused
Fatigue is horrendous coupled with the fact I have to take an antihistamine which adds to exhaustion.
My make up doesn't compliment me anymore.
I am invisible in clothes shops.
Buying cotton trousers seems impossible so I sweat bit out in polyester Shock
On the plus side tho
I am more confident than I have ever been in my life and nothing really intimidates me anymore.

maverick Flowers it sucks doesn't it?!
I just cannot get over how hot and sweaty I am all the time. You think I would lose a couple of stone with sweat, but alas noGrin
It's work that gets me. The minute I arrive I'm a furnace!
I've yet to see a plus side but it's early daysWink

My GP has said that Fluoxetine (an anti-depressant) can help with the hot flushes/broken thermostat problem.

I've been suffering like you but a blood test has shown hormone levels , thyroid etc to be OK despite all my symptoms being typical perimenopausal ones.

I told the GP that I wanted to do something about the hot flushes and sweating though as it is such a pain. That's when she said I could go down the hormonal route of HRT (although she didn't feel this necessary at the moment as I still have regular periods) or Fluoxetine.

I've got the prescription for the Fluoxetine and have just been reading up on it whilst deciding whether to try it. Interestingly though one of the side effects can be excessive sweating Confused

Hmm it's all so confusing isn't it?!
Right now I have no idea about my periods as I've got the mirena coil and have had no periods since it was fitted about 3 years ago.

Hi OP
sorry you are suffering so much. Have you seen a gynae who specialises in meno, to help you? You might find one through a referral on the NHS given you have a 'complicated' medical history but there are a few really good ones - mainly LOndon based- who could help you if you have the funds for a private appt.

Based on what I've read and been told by mine, breast cancer 'in the family' is an issue if it's 2 first degree relatives - mum or sister- before age of 40. The DVT depends on how long ago and what treatment you are now having - eg Warfarin- and what caused your thrombosis (you're very young to have had one.) Transdermal HRT does not add to the risk of stroke and may even reduce coronary heart disease- lots of research on this which doesn't get much publicity.

Not saying there are no issues for you with HRT but it's worth talking to a dr who knows their stuff.

For anyone else on this thread who is suffering, why are you not on HRT? That's why it's there to get rid of all the sweats and feeling terrible! :)

Lavender because I am not suffering enoughConfused I started WW last week. Just to torture myself further. Four days in and it's going well okay. Unlike u tho I have at least 4 stone to loose Confused

Polly I suppose I have tried to battle on without HRT as it is early days. I'm 50 so I could have a few years to go yet. Don't really want to be on HRT indefinetely.

Thanks polly
It's cousin and aunt (cousins mum) who had breast cancer.
my thrombosis came about during/after the birth of DC, 27 years ago. Not on any treatment for it now.
My GP wasn't happy to prescribe HRT so I've just left it for now.

Thanks Lavender. I find 7 - 10 pm the hardest part of the day, I would just love CakeBrew at this time but hey ho.
It's make or break for me this time. I can't go on the way I'm going so with my "big" 50 looming I decided to take the the bull by the horns get stuck in and see what happens. Wink

It's very early days but I want to really try this time.
I'm sick of being hot and sweaty and not being able to buy comfortable clothes.
When you are a size 22 like me The only clothes available are man made fibres and polyester compounding the sweating problem .

Someone at work drinks soya milk every day and swears it helps with flushes.
I take menopace tablets but they don't seem to do anything......
