I don't have cystitis, but I need to pee more now, like straight away, if I need to pee I can usually wait a little while but now if I need to pee I need to pee NOW!!

anyone else like this?

Yes. I used to be like this during my 'off week' on the pill too for the final few years.

I find drinking plenty of water helps (seems to calm and stretch the bladder a bit). Avoiding coffee (although I do have it once a week). I use a bit of Actigel on the nethers (because I also have had problems with thrush/non thrush infections/not infections and a little keeps them away). And vagifem.

It's due to lower levels of oestrogen. Your bladder and urethra are lined with cells that are kept 'plump' by oestrogen. When hormones fall during peri meno and post meno, these cells are reduced so the urine irritates the bladder lining and it feels it needs to empty more often. It can also cause stinging and burning as the urethra's lining thins too.

The solution is vaginal oestrogen (creams or pessaries) which are basorbed through the vagnal wall into the bladder (which is on the other side of the vagina) . It can take up to 6 months to see full improvement but it does work!

You need to see your GP and discuss.

I'm a recent convert to Vagifem. I'm in a new relationship post divorce/menopause and went to the doctor as sex was uncomfortable as everything was rather dry down below. Sex is now much more pleasurable and it's had the unexpected side effect of not needing to get up and pee during the night, resulting in much better sleep. If the relationship doesn't last I'm staying on Vagifem!
