Hi, going through peri symptoms at the moment. Every afternoon my face and chest goes red and I get hotter then start feeling v emotional and end up in tears.
Have high blood pressure that I'm trying to reduce, as GP won't prescribed hrt until it's within normal... It's only a little bit raised now. Quit smoking, for one week, in hopes of lowering but probs not helping with emotional symptoms
I just feel so utterly terrible and anxious and depressed. Can't stop crying.

I found sage tablets helped with the hot flushes (Vosgels).

Thanks. I draw the line at Paul Daniels though Wink

Seriously though, is crying this much not bad for your health? It's exhausting

I've ranged from being inconsolable to rage over absolutely nothing today.

Have done the square root of fuck all because I feel like I've been wrestling lions!

I have some preexisting MH conditions that are going haywire with the mood swings.

I've been given tablets to try and stop the peaks and troughs but it's really getting too much now.
After Christmas I threw my DP in a mood rage so I'm now trying Agnus Castus and Starflower oil and Macca root, I'm throwing the kitchen sink at it Smile

Menopace tablets have worked for me. Stopped taking them for a week and it all came back again.

Threw my DP out.

Not threw him.

Although I did look remarkably like a bright red incredible hulk.

Ha Smile

I'm on the menopace tabs too... I think they've really helped with my insomnia. But I'm still an emotional wreck.
Just heard Debbie Magee on the radio talking about Paul Daniels, and I'm now seriously weeping again GrinConfused

Many GPs don't have a clue about HRT and menopause. I see a consultant and over the years have been able to find out quite a bit about HRT and also by reading around it. High BP is not contraindicated for HRT. Your GP should treat your high BP and give you HRT at the same time. Smoking is clearly a no-no in terms of health as you'll know and women who smoke do have worse meno symptoms so you are doing the right thing there. As a smoker you may already have a higher risk of stroke and heart disease for a while until you've stopped for some time, so if you do go for HRT then transdermal is safer. There is info about this in the NICE report on menopause.

I think my GP doesn't have a clue to be honest.
Hoping things improve with the quitting smoking, as it definitely lowers estrogen levels.
I had been off smoking for 3 years but just started again about 4 months ago.. So just a blip really, but it's over now. Hopefully I'll feel better soon .

Framey just looking at your other thread here....if you are only 41 and in peri then this is bordering on a premature menopause. (Classed as before 45 for periods stopping.)
If this does happen, seriously think about seeing a dr to discuss HRT and have a DEXA (bone density scan) if possible because early menopause and smoking are risk factors for osteoporosis. You won't get any symptoms with it, just maybe a broken bone from something minor once you are in your 50s and then it's a lot harder to put things right- prevention is better.
