Anybody experiencing both ? Night times are just hideous with no sleep and hot flashes coming thick & fast like contractions. I have symptoms of an underactive thyroid too so just wondering if there is any link ?

Yes,I have symptoms of both and am just waiting for blood test results. Have you had any tests yet?

Not yet, have an appointment with GP in the morning. I'm so tired most of the time but you can put it down to the crap sleep caused my menopause hot flashes. I was diagnosed with Fibromyalgia 18mths ago and have a lot of muscle and leg pains - but that could also be thyroid ?

Yes, this could be a thyroid symptom. It's difficult really as lots of symptoms crossover with each other. My GP arranged a wide range of tests so hopefully I can find out what the problem is rather than simply 'getting older'.

Yes it could well be thyroid. If you can get a diagnosis from your GP. I have had to go private to get treatment of my hypothyroid symptoms which were dismissed by my NHS GP because my results were "normal". Sadly it's a numbers game. This route also took me to something called an adrenal stress test, which again is dismissed out of hand by some as plain "woo". To sum up, finally it turned out that my hot flushes which were worst around 3-4am were being caused by low cortisol. Got there in the end thankfully (still fat though, and the HRT seems to be giving me spots too)
