Menopause

Ridiculously short cycle or mid-cycle bleeding

I'm 40 years old.

On about day 12 of my cycle this month I have started bleeding - 2nd day so far and small but consistent flow of pink blood. My cycle has always been short, usually just below or above 24 days.

Is this likely to be an extremely short cycle due to peri-menopause, or mid-cycle bleeding that needs investigating?

My Dsis is 42 and already officially post menopausal.

I don't have time to go to the doctors but I suppose I should.

I did not have a period in September.

My period started on 1st October and lasted for five days. I came on again on Monday 27th October. That's two periods in one month. OK they are about 21 days apart, so, no biggie. But, two in one month ? Really ?

My periods have been so heavy they've needed medication for the last 18months. There are times when I feel like going back to my doctor because even with the Tranexamic Acid tablets my periods are still heavy and painful. I'm murmuring out loud with the pain.

I'm 47. My doctor has made no mention of menopause. I've discussed my menstrual cycle with the nurse at my doctor's surgery. She just says to monitor it.

Sounds very similar to what happened to me recently. I'm 40 too and have always had a short (24 day) but very regular cycle. I had a period 14 days after the previous one. It freaked me out a bit and I was interested to see what would happen. Nothing more out of the ordinary so far. I've had 3 regular length cycles since so I just put it down to one of those age related things that start happening over 40.

Hi Kahori, sounds similar (OP here with Halloween name change). I've decided to actually note down my cycle in future (!) and keep track of it, and if it happens again then go and see GP, though I think I know answer! The joys.
