How long does this go on for?

I'm 50, and have had insane periods now for 5 years and am sick to the bloody teeth of them.

Heavy, flooding, painful, totally erratic. Can go longer than 3 months, but currently on 2n period in 28 days.... And that previous one last 14 days with constant pain.

I've got Tranxanamic acid, but it doesn't seem to do much. Also, I never know when to take it. Sometime they start really slowly and just spot for about 6 days, then build up to full on flooding. Sometimes they start at full scale flooding. Can easily soak a Lilets ultra tampon. In 3 hours WITH the tablets.

Am just so fed up of it. How long does it go on so far?

I had this, although needed to change a Lillets Ultra tampon every 20-40 minutes on some days, so 3 hours would have been a light day for me Sad . Mirena coil made no difference, Tranxamic Acid didn't do a thing. Gp kept fobbing me off. My periods lasted 15 - 18 days....

I eventually saw a different GP, had referral to gynae consultant who found I had a very large fibroid which was removed. Things are so much better. I still need Lillets ultra tampons on the first day, but only have to change them every 90 mins or so. Then it's much lighter for three days, all over by day 4.

Do go back to your GP and insist on a hospital referral. Wish I'd done so 3 years ago.
