Missed Periods, Fibroids & Big Bloaty Tummy

I know that a main symptom of fibroids is heavy bleeding but is it possible to have missed a couple of periods and have fibroids ?

I have a really distended tummy which seems to be getting more and more bloaty of late. I exercise for approx 10hrs a week e.g. Nordic Walking, Horse Riding, Swimming & Personal Training of fitness & strengthening.

I am 49 & have missed two periods in succession.

Can anyone give me any ideas as to what is going on - I know the 'M' word will pop up.

Thanks

For fibroids I think you need to see a gynae for a diagnosis.
They will test you also for the meno hormonal changes.

Don't mean to sound trite, but do you eat a lot of wheat? I bloat to look 9 months pregnant if I eat wheat.

Hi, I'm cutting out wheat & gluten to see if it makes a difference. I've been to docs today & she's sending me for a pelvic scan as when she rolled her fingers over my left ovary it was very tender indeed.

Might just be the fact she was pressing a bit but she wants me checked out anyway so that's a start Smile

Oh good, your GP sounds nice Tilly.
Is that an ultra sound?

Yep a pelvic scan ... result was a fibroid but not doing anything about it, consultant said it was a 'big ole fibroid' & in his opinion wasn't the cause of my bloating Sad

Humm... Did he suggest shrinking it hormonally? Or removing it?

Nope to neither. I'll ask me GP when I go back to see her next week. I have a question re the fibroids which I'll post as a separate thread.

Getting very fed up with the massive bloat tho Sad
